There's nothing complicated or tricky about how to play - it's basically Pac-Man - but it's still really addictive and thoroughly recommended.
Donkey Kong Country (Nintendo)
Wow! All the graphics, replete with superb renders and amazing textures and depth, are all just as eye-catching on the portable version as on the N64.
Monkey Puncher (Evolution Entertainment)
We have never seen such an inspired piece of compelling lunacy on the Game Boy before, so get punching monkeys right now!
Pokemon Trading Card Game (Nintendo)
I've played the real Pokemon card game hundreds of time, but I have to say that this rather pale ghost of an RPG/Simulator is a poor excuse for the real thing.
Donald Duck: Quack Attack (Ubisoft)
A truly challenging and well-devised game. It'll drive you quackers, but it's all worth it in the end!
The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Wild Adventures (Ubisoft)
A great game... to borrow from someone else. The problem is there are only five sections, with about four levels in each.
Bob The Builder (BBC Software)
It's quite simple for an adult to complete, but there are various difficulty settings which make it worth a play for kids of any age.
It's really too simple an idea for a game... Still, you basically get to mess about with robo-battles without being tragic enough to spend six months of your life locked in the garage making them.
A quality game right from the very beginning. It's exciting and challenging, with cool little 'in-betweeners' to watch and plenty of puzzles to solve.
Grand Theft Auto 2 (Rockstar Games)
Where the odd platformer will while away twenty minutes or so, you'll get sucked into the world of Grand Theft Auto 2 before you know it, and will walk around calling everyone 'ho' for the rest of the week.
Takes real skill... The best of all is the Arcade version with its Mario Kart-style pick-ups, awkward obstacles, four different course selections - from beginner to Super Turbo type racing - and three different tracks in each section!
An enjoyable game that has made considerable improvements over all the previous flying flops!
Batman Of The Future: Return Of The Joker (Ubisoft)
The graphics leave a lot to be desired, and it's difficult to keep any interest in the action further than level two.
Batman Of The Future: Chaos In Gotham City (Ubisoft)
A bat-compendium to be rather proud of... Grainy but generally very pleasing graphics, plus some atmospheric tunes from the gothic type series, with all the usual UbiKey options.
Inspector Gadget (Light & Shadow)
There's more to this than other platformers...! It's also pretty tough, but only because of irritating level design, not gameplay.
A refreshing change on the Game Boy Color. A game that works well on your own or with others.
The Adventures Of The Smurfs (Infogrames)
This is a rather slow, unfulfilling game that you'll enjoy if you don't want a challenge.
