Everyone's favourite sailor suit-wearing duck (and there are so many!) is back on your Game Boy Color!

Donald Duck: Quack Attack

Ahhhh, you've noticed it's a real Disney blitz this issue, with even old stalwarts like Donald himself venturing out for a Game Boy adventure. Why not join Donald Duck for an adventure through time, collecting blue things and bouncing on bees. Yum!

Daring Donald

Apparently, Donald's girlfriend Daisy has been kidnapped by Merlock the nasty villain, last (and only) seen in DuckTales: The Movie. With the help of an inventor friend, Donald hopes to transport himself straight to Daisy's rescue. Unfortunately, the inventor is a bit on the rubbish side, and so Donald is beamed all over the plae before he can finally rescue his one true love!

As platformers go, this plays in a similar way to Donkey Kong Land. From the moment you turn the game on, you can tell it's gonna be a stunner! Despite the small size of the sprites, each one is animated beautifully and Donald handles extremely well, with a cool double jump action that lifts him high into otherwise unreachable places.

Quack To The Future

Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers

The levels in this game are absolutely massive and very imaginatively designed, so there are plenty of puzzles and obstacles for you to struggle with. Grabbing a certain type of blue orb, for example, makes Donald go bonkers - thus allowing him to smash through previously locked doors.

Despite the repetitive nature of the games, a lot of effort has been put into making sure that you are never bored. On the contrary, this is one of the hardest games of the year, and you'll be shouting and cursing like the Duck himself before long. But that won't stop you wanting to make old Donald a hero by the end of it!

Second Opinion

There are times in playing this undeniably well-made game where you really want to smash your Game Boy into a million pieces before hurling it out of the nearest window - it's really that difficult.

Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers

But once you've conquered a puzzle, you're totally compelled to take the adventure to the extreme, and rescue Daisy. Now that's the mark of a truly challenging and well-devised game. It'll drive you quackers, but it's all worth it in the end!
