Linked reviews are available to view in full on this site.
Turrican (Rainbow Arts) (Commodore 64)
An utterly awesome shoot-'em-up with great variety in gameplay as well as the superlative graphics.
TV Sports Football (Cinemaware/Mirrorsoft) (Commodore 64/128)
The ultimate American Football sim has arrived on the C64. A must for fans!
Castle Master (Domark/Incentive) (Amiga 500)
The utterly unique 8-bit Freescape system provides a wonderful spooky world for you to explore.
Fiendish Freddy's Big Top O' Fun (Mindscape) (Commodore 64/128)
The funniest, whackiest game yet seen on the C64.
Dragon's Breath (Palace) (Amiga 500)
Although the spells are quite complex, and take some time to master, they add excitement and adventure to what is otherwise a basic, if very pretty, strategic game.
Xenomorph (Pandora) (Amiga 500)
The essence of Xenomorph is mapping: if you don't like having to chart your surroundings you may not appreciate this game.
War Of The Lance (US Gold/SSI) (Commodore 64/128)
If you like the Dragonlance scenarios, and pretty pictures don't make or break a game for you then War Of The Lance might be a good introduction to wargaming.
Starflight (Electronic Arts) (Commodore 64)
The depth and massive play area is maintained on the C64 (270 star systems and 800 planets) and music and FX are at least as good (bad?) as on the Amiga.
Rings Of Medusa (Starbyte) (Amiga 500)
Professionally produced, the only real negative aspect of Rings Of Medusa is lastability; it's not exactly exciting to play and isn't suitable for long sessions.
The Footballer (Cult Games) (Commodore 64)
The original Football Manager was released well before Zzap existed, and it was still miles better than this. As far as I'm concerned, this is non-league material.
British Super League (Cult Games) (Commodore 64)
Though it's not in the First Division of management games, it scores most for its attempts at innovation.
Pub Trivia Simulator (Codemasters) (Commodore 64/128)
As with other quiz games the questions inevitably start repeating after a while, but even when they do, the multiple choice answers are cleverly jumbled up to make them appear different.
Boing (Hi Power) (Commodore 64)
A game to be recommended only for those wanting to escape a murder charge by pleading absolute, raving madness.
Fast Food (Codemasters) (Commodore 64/128)
While the action is hardly innovative, it's certainly very playable.
Beyond The Ice Palace (Encore) (Commodore 64/128)
One for the Ghosts 'N Goblins fan who wants a challenge, without too much originality.
Wonder Boy (The Hit Squad) (Commodore 64/128)
Provides a reasonable challenge and well worth a look if you like this sort of cutesy game.
Manic Miner (Software Projects) (Amiga 500)
Oldsters who raved over the original could well be tempted by this, while younger players could yet be enthralled - if they're prepared to accept mediocre graphics and the limits of the still classic gameplay.
Gauntlet II (Kixx) (Amiga 500)
Enthusiastic fans of the coin-op will like the near-perfect conversion, others may find it a bit boring.
Hammerfist (Vivid Image/Activision) (Amiga 500)
A spectacular beat-'em-up which plays and looks like a top-notch coin-op.
Pro Tennis Tour (Ubisoft) (Commodore 64/128)
A very professional product. Difficult to master at first but very playable in two-player mode.
TV Sports Basketball (Cinemaware/Mirrorsoft) (Amiga 500)
Another slick Cinemaware sports sim. Extra FX on 1Mb machines.
Colorado (Palace/Silmaril) (Amiga 500)
Plenty of exploring to do, some good combat scenes, and an impressive canoe scene.
Dragon's Lair: Escape From Singe's Castle (Empire) (Amiga 500)
Big, colourful, very fast, and slick graphics showing lots of variety and imagination. Apart from inevitable disk swapping, excellent.
Player Manager (Anco) (Amiga 500)
The amazing Kick Off is improved and combined with a brilliant management game.
Infestation (Psygnosis) (Amiga 500)
An utterly compulsive bug-hunt... Excellent underground atmosphere soon leads to compulsive addiction.
