Linked reviews are available to view in full on this site.
Alien (Mind Games) (Commodore 64)
The sound effects add to the suspense as does the sudden arrival of the monster.
Impossible Mission (CBS) (Commodore 64)
Every game is different, the subterranean layout changes, as does the behaviour of the robots.
Juice! (System 3) (Commodore 64)
I occasionally had trouble keeping my character under control, but overall this is a nice variation on the theme and I enjoyed it.
Suicide Strike (System 3) (Commodore 64)
A nice implementation and features Novaload, so you can get it into your machine quickly.
Roland Ahoy (Amsoft) (Amstrad CPC464)
An interesting if rather static game which could do with a little more speed and interest.
Astro Attack (Amsoft) (Amstrad CPC464)
A game for the light of finger who like to complete sheet after sheet with little variation.
Tachyon Command (Century) (Spectrum 48K)
Apparently written by "one of Britain's most acclaimed software writers"... Acclaimed by whom?
Backpackers' Guide To The Universe (Fantasy) (Spectrum 48K)
Just flying Ziggy through the caves is quite fun, but playing the game seriously will require a lot of time and dedication.
Captain Starlight (Romik) (Commodore 64)
A good game, but not special enough to make the top ten.
Warlords (Century) (Spectrum 48K)
This same theme was tried many moons ago, and it wasn't even very successful then.
Introducing The Dots (Blandford Press) (BBC Model B)
One to avoid at all costs... All the programs are drill- and test-based; there is a little teaching content followed by a test and then more teaching.
Learn Basic Programming Spectrum (Logic 3) (Spectrum 48K)
A well thought-out and well-executed package.
UAP (D. A. Bandoo) (Sinclair QL)
Will give serious QL programmers a complete machine code package at a reasonable price.
Mini Office (Database) (Spectrum 48K)
At first sight it appears that you might be getting a bargain: four programs on one tape... Closer inspection proves differently.
Learn Basic Programming BBC B (Logic 3) (BBC Model B)
There are other courses for the BBC that take the Basic into better account and I would prefer one of these.
Legend (Century) (Spectrum 48K)
I got the impression that the whole game had been written around the duelling scene.
The Sandman Cometh (Star Dreams) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Programming is a mixture of machine code and Basic, which is a bit slow at times, but it is very well done nevertheless.
Magic Stone (Audiogenic) (Commodore 64)
An above average game which responds rapidly and is fairly testing.
Time Traveller (Audiogenic) (Commodore 64)
Adventure fanatics will probably find this game easy meat, but newcomers to adventures will find it a challenge and good fun.
