Q-Bert (Parker Brothers) (Philips Videopac)
A fairly enjoyable game. The graphics are reasonable and sound is good, for example a tune is played when a pyramid is completely changed and a noise is heard when the discs fly to the top of the pyramid.
Frogger (Parker Brothers) (Philips Videopac)
The graphics are not nearly as good as in other versions, but that's to be expected.
Mario Bros (Atarisoft) (Atari 2600)
This is an average arcade game - the graphics are not too bad, although the pests are difficult to see clearly, probably because they are too small to be precise.
It's described as an adventure, but it isn't what I'd call one... The display is just a simple grid of 6 x 6 squares and the use of sound is minimal.
Bombastic! (English) (Atari 400/800/600XL/800XL/130XE)
A rather average game... The slow action of the firing certainly makes the trusty shooting-thumb sore!
Scuba Dive (Durell) (Spectrum 48K)
Get it... now! The graphics are absolutely stunning, the game is quite brilliant and it's one I could happily spend days on.
Knot In 3D (New Generation) (Spectrum 48K)
You'll either love this or hate it. Personally, I love it. Its graphics are very well done and, as you proceed towards 3-D structures the colour and shapes are reminiscent of the last half hour of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Cruncher (Virgin Games) (BBC Model B)
A fun addition to any software collection. The graphics are colourful, fast, and do not flicker.
Spectrum Safari (CDS) (Spectrum 48K)
A fairly interesting pot-pourri of a game... It'll probably appeal to younger computer fans.
Android Attack (Computer Concepts) (BBC Model B)
One of the best original games I have seen for the BBC computer.
Air Strike 2 (English) (Atari 400/800/600XL/800XL/130XE)
It's better than its predecessor... Its graphics are superb and, as usual on English Software games, the picture is sharp and clear.
Doomsday Castle (Fantasy) (Spectrum 48K)
A fascinating and enthralling game. All Spectrum owners should have it.
Swarm (Computer Concepts) (BBC Model B)
An interesting variation on the Galaxians' theme. The aliens appear on the top of the screen and then they go round in a circle.
Stonkers (Imagine) (Spectrum 48K)
I found the game rather boring and tedious. The army moves very slowly, and it took quite a while to move each division even a short distance.
Nightflite II (Hewson Consultants) (Spectrum 16K)
An excellent addition to any Spectrum library. Requires much time and patience to succeed.
Pixie Pete (Merlin) (Commodore 64)
If as much attention had been paid to the game concept as has obviously been paid to its presentation, this could have been a winner - what a pity.
Pat The Postman (Mikro-Gen) (Spectrum 48K)
Great graphics and a good basic idea... but movement is not only terribly slow, but you actually have to lift your fingers off the keys before you can change direction!
Corridors Of Genon (New Generation) (Spectrum 48K)
A fast, well-produced game which makes full use of the Spectrum's graphics.
Star Trek Adventure (Superior) (BBC Model B)
Nothing special here... Accepts most normal adventure commands consisting of two words, a verb followed by a noun.
Dicky's Diamonds (Romik) (Commodore 64)
Good positioning of game controls... By the eighth web the difficulty increases, with the introduction of another spider.
Robot Panic (Soft Mill) (Spectrum 16K)
An exciting game which requires quick thinking and the ability to keep calm in tricky situations.
Frogger (Interceptor Micros) (Commodore 64)
If copies of old masters appeal to you, this one deserves a place in your collection.
Atom Smasher (Romik) (BBC Model A & B)
There are nine skill levels, the lowest being difficult and the highest being virtually impossible. One minor criticism is the positioning of the keys, these are awkward to use at first.
Captain Sticky's Gold (English) (Atari 400/800)
The screen layout is superb with very clear and fast graphics.
Tarot Card (English) (Atari 400/800/XL)
Me thinks it could go down well at a party, although the loading time of eleven minutes is a bit long for the 48K version.
