Even if you hated all of Frankie's records, you'll love this game. Bound to be one of the all time classics on the C64.

Spy Vs. Spy: The Island Caper (Beyond) (Commodore 64)

The cartoon graphics are every bit as good as on Spy Vs. Spy and, with seven levels of action, you'll find it a real challenge.

Tour De France (Activision) (Commodore 64/128)

Tour De France is a slick and very professional sports simulation and deserves to grace the software collection of any sports enthusiast.

Boffin (Addictive Games) (BBC/Electron)

There's nothing much here to hold your interest.

Road Race (Activision) (Commodore 64/128)

An enthralling game. You are equipped with a fuel gauge, rev counter, mileage gauge, clock and the all-important radar warning device.

Talos (Silver Soft) (Spectrum 48K)

An arcade adventure where your quest is to rebuild Talos and find the Crown of Eternity.

Red Arrows (Database Publications) (BBC Model B)

The actual graphic representation of the Red Arrows, on the Spectrum version is awful. I don't think even the prospect of a day out with the Arrows would make me want to shell out nearly £9 for this game.

Aabatron (Bevan Technology) (BBC/Electron)

An entertaining version of the old maze games, where each location consists of differently arranged rooms around which you move up, down, left and right, blasting the various nasties inhabiting the place.

Hyperdrive (English) (Sinclair QL)

There are day and night-time screens - plus some really nice graphic 'landscaping' touches. Like mountains and bridges.

Mad Doctor (Creative Sparks) (Commodore 64)

Mad Doctor is great value and will keep you hooked for ages.

Hijack (English) (Atari 400/800/600XL/800XL/130XE)

Getting the helicopter in position is hard enough but there is also gun and cannonfire from the hills to dodge, plus the risk of flying into trackside trees.

Bio-Defence (Tymac) (Atari 400/800)

Apart from my dislike of Tymac's dubious taste in producing a game about raging infections, I found the game pretty unexciting.

Jump Jet (Anirog) (Amstrad CPC464)

Written by former jump jet pilot Vaughan Dow, Jump Jet combines flight simulation with the thrills and spills of combat.

Dambusters (U. S. Gold) (Spectrum 48K)

Dambusters is basically a shoot-'em-up and not a flight simulator. Though that is no disgrace and the game is well worth buying.

One Last Game (Bevan Technology) (BBC/Electron)

A slick, unpretentious little arcade action game with neat graphics and enough variety in the individuality of the aliens to redeem it from tedium.

Robin Hood (Pocket Money) (Dragon 32)

One of the best games to appear on the Dragon.

April Showers (Bevan Technology) (BBC Model B)

This could keep you amused for a while, but in the end the lack of a facility to speed up the rather slow action as you improve is frustrating.

Codename Mat II (Domark) (Spectrum 48K)

An exciting mixture of action and strategy... Many hours of happy zapping.

Racing Destruction Set (Ariolasoft) (Commodore 64)

The game is good fun but the graphics are a little crude. Race tracks can, of course, be created too.

Southern Belle (Hewson Consultants) (Spectrum 48K)

A brave attempt at producing an original game. If you've always wanted to drive a steam train - and who hasn't? - this is a good way to fulfill your dreams.

Profanation (Gremlin Graphics) (Spectrum 48K)

An extremely well presented and entertaining game. You'll soon be hooked and want to solve the harder riddles later in the game.

Metabolis (Gremlin Graphics) (Spectrum 48K)

The graphics are good - with a few really nice touches. I particularly liked the Alien-style creature - lots of teeth and a big swishing tail!

Journey (CRL) (Commodore 64)

An underground world of vampire bats, pits of acid, underground rivers, sheer drops and other nameless terrors.

Kennedy Approach (Microprose) (Commodore 64)

A simulation of one of the most demanding and stressful jobs in the world - air traffic control. With up to 20 different aircraft taking off, landing or circling, it's no easy task to avoid a major air disaster.

Enthar Seven (Robico) (Acorn Electron)

The text is lengthy, interesting and incredibly atmospheric, and you can do some very complex things with some of the objects... It took me about twenty minutes to solve the first problem but, once done, the fun really begins!

Super Gran: The Adventure (Tynesoft) (Acorn Electron)

After a shaky start, I found it very enjoyable to play, even though it does not contain the type of puzzles that take months to solve.

Terrormolinos (Melbourne House) (BBC/Electron)

Terrormolinos is a fun adventure... Not having taken my holiday at the time of writing, I'm glad it's Italy for me this year!

Mordon's Quest (Melbourne House) (Spectrum 48K/128K)

A quality adventure and I have no hesitation in recommending it to hardened adventurers.

Castle Dracula (Duckworth) (BBC Model B)

Having seen only about 75% of the locations - I spent too much time having to reload! - I can't really tell you about the ending, except to say it looks fun.

Red Moon (Level 9 Computing) (Spectrum 48K/128K)

This game must rate as the best adventure I have played this year.
