McDonaldland (Virgin Games) (Commodore 64/128)

Eaten in one sitting, the McDonaldland gaming burger is satisfying, but there is the occasional odd after-taste. Nevertheless, the raw meat of the puzzles themselves should be enough to satiate the hunger of any C64 for a good few hours.

Super Space Invaders (The Hit Squad) (Commodore 64/128)

It may be a fifteen year-old idea but it's been reworked with a lot of style and plenty of pizzazz. Fabulous!

Rick Dangerous 2 (Kixx) (Commodore 64/128)

Plays pretty much like the original - and that's no criticism. Rick dashes around platforms, speeds up steps and does everything that you'd expect of a macho hero. But there are loads of new puzzles and traps to keep you on your toes.

F15 Strike Eagle (Kixx) (Commodore 64/128)

If it moves shoot it; and if it doesn't move, you might as well shoot it as well. Just make sure you've got a photographic memory if you get this game on budget - you'll need it to remember all the different key commands for the controls.

Flimbo's Quest (Kixx) (Commodore 64/128)

A dull, weedy quest... It simply doesn't hold your attention. Yes, it's moderately engrossing for the first few levels but, as you get further on, the gameplay becomes stagnant. Yawn.

Space Gun (The Hit Squad) (Commodore 64/128)

Cross Aliens with Predator and sprinkle a liberal helping of lots of other nasty stuff and you get Space Gun. The gameplay isn't as taxing as it could be, but it's the sort of game you'd load up when you want to put off doing something uninteresting yet still important.

Table Tennis (Zeppelin Games) (Commodore 64/128)

Okay, so in the originality stakes Table Tennis is down there with Hale and Pace's scriptwriters, but the load is short enough to make it worthwhile having the occasional ten minute bash at.

Super Sports Challenge (Codemasters) (Commodore 64/128)

You get Slicks on this compilation, which is good - but you also get International Speedway, which is bad. There's a two-player mode on most of the games included but, unless you're a sports sim fan, there's nothing to get too excited about in this pack.

4 Most Super Sports (Alternative) (Commodore 64/128)

It may be cheap, but I think you'd be better off saving up a little bit more for a much better set of games.

American Tag Team Wrestling (Zeppelin Games) (Commodore 64/128)

Played against the computer, it's pretty grim. But in two-player mode, when you and a mate both have to struggle with the control system, at least the odds are evened up a bit.

Nobby The Aardvark (Thalamus) (Commodore 64/128)

The kind of game that C64 owners deserve... It's eminently playable and packed with original ideas.

First Samurai (Ubisoft) (Commodore 64/128)

It's difficult to describe how fab this game is. It's stunning.

Snare (Beyond Belief) (Commodore 64/128)

It's an enjoyable romp and should keep you occupied long enough to justify adding it to your collection, but you probably won't wear the label off the cassette, if you know what I mean.
