Lotus III: The Ultimate Challenge (Gremlin)
There's no getting away from the gorgeous backgrounds and graphic brilliance, but this is a driving game where you take the scenic route to everywhere.
Shadow Of The Beast III (Psygnosis)
It looks good, it sounds good, and the gameplay's good... It's a lot more fun than either of the other two Beast games, for sure.
Derivative, yeah, but derivative of Lemmings and Solomon's Key, two of the most original and innovative games in computing history. It's a classic game in its own right, and probably even better than Lemmings.
Plan 9 From Outer Space (Gremlin)
Too short, the plot's awful, the gameplay's disjointed and simplistic, the conversations are insultingly trite, the music and sound effects are abysmal. Need I go on?
The character is wonderful, the levels are superbly designed, and the abundant weird touches are matched only by the mighty Wizkid.
Catch 'Em (Digital Marketing International)
Weird but fun, and instantly graspable. Try it, you might like it.
It's not that any of the five sports included here are particularly bad, just boring. Playing this game is a numbingly repetitive pressing of the fire button to jump over logs and rocks on a simplistic obstacle course, and nothing else really happens.
The Castle Of Doctor Brain (Sierra)
As educational games go, it's a lot more imaginative than most. It's just a pity that it's so darned slow and difficult to control.
Nothing original and an awful lot 'artistically' borrowed from Last Ninja. It's a poor man's copy however because it is very slow to play and gets boring too soon due to the combat being so easy.
The worst piece of software I have ever come across in my life. Expensive, tacky, crap, rubbish. Hope you get this message before you buy it.
Battle Isle Scenario Disk 1 (Ubisoft)
Great stuff for fans of the original, and maybe a little incentive for others to go out and buy it.
This is ****, a word that we just can't print, and I can hardly think how to begin explaining why it's so awful. Leave it well alone.
Shoot-'Em-Up Construction Kit (GBH Gold)
Fun, and a gem to both use and understand... The end result may be a little boring to play, but getting there is fun beyond belief.
Dull, uneventful, annoying, badly-designed rubbish. The worst Codies game I've seen in a very very long time, and even a cute elephant character can't save it. Ugh.
It's got some pedigree, but then it's not what you'd call state-of-the-art, it is based on an old formula and it lacks imaginative foresight.
It's too easy and too slow. With no variety in the graphics and a soundtrack your mother will kill you for playing loud, give it a wide berth.
It's okay for a while, but only a really short while. Like, about a minute. After that short while you'll see how tatty it all is and become pretty bored. If you want pinball on your Amiga, then get Pinball Dreams.
Okay, perhaps it isn't that bad, but it's the sort of game you've seen before, and were probably hoping you wouldn't ever have to see again. Quite nice graphics though.
The Adventures Of Quick And Silva (Anglia PD)
It might show its roots a bit and hardly pushes back any boundaries, but, hey, with graphics and simple, wholesome gameplay like this, who cares?
