Elvira II: The Jaws Of Cerebus (Accolade)

If you feel at all bloodthirsty, then you are going to enjoy this - play late at night with the lights turned off, slap on the BBC death and horror sound-effects tape and indulge yourself.

Plan 9 From Outer Space (Gremlin)

Although it's good-looking, the disappointing part is the adventure element - with obscure puzzles and fairly linear progression, it soon turns into a battle with the programmer's imagination in one puzzle after another.

Espana: The Games '92 (Ocean)

Although The Games does hold some merit for what it attempts to do - it's a shame it does it so badly - with barely average graphics, sluggish action and the feeling that you're never in control of everything. Don't bother.

The Carl Lewis Challenge (Psygnosis)

A passable attempt at a sports sim which doesn't exactly shadow any boundaries of originality or direction. Apart from the cleverly digitised, animated graphics, there's nothing remotely new or exciting here.

Castles (Electronic Arts)

Castles promises much, but in the end delivers little... Once you've sussed out the tricky control system and mastered the perils of castle-building and design, you're likely to get rather bored.

Ork (Psygnosis)

There are some great games available for your ST, but Ork isn't one of them.

G-Loc: Air Battle (US Gold)

Almost a complete waste of time. Do yourself a big favour - get doing the washing up, it's much more fun - and useful too.

Kwik Snax (Codemasters)

Kwik Snax is addictive with fiendishly difficult gameplay. The sprites are immensely colourful and there are some excellent backdrops.

Captain Dynamo (Codemasters)

A good game which is playable, tricky, different and an altogether not-budgety-at-all kind of game.

Falcon 1.2 (Action 16)

This does really work very well, although the enormous amount of information (130 pages of text!) can stifle the gameplay.

Narco Police (GBH)

An above-average game with plenty of varied features to suit everyone.

International 3D Tennis (GBH)

Underneath the smartly executed graphics lies a highly playable, though not very addictive, game. The joystick controls help the game flow along and your ST opponents vary from the good to the terrible.

Toki (Atarisoft)

No collection is complete without this... It's fun, playable and huge.

Rampart (Atarisoft)

A testing and refreshingly designed shoot-'em-up.

Crystal Mines 2 (Atarisoft)

Great sound, swift graphics and loads of levels mean it's likely to outlast the rainy weekend you bought it for.

Hockey (Atarisoft)

It has great graphics, plenty of options and is assured of a long shelf life.

Batman Returns (Atarisoft)

You can have the quickest reactions in the world, but when a window blows up, you lose wodges of energy and die. It's very unfair.

Shadow Of The Beast (Atarisoft)

Good graphics and sound, but duff gameplay and a boredom rating well off the scale.

Basketbrawl (Atarisoft)

Unlikely to hold your interest for too long - this basketball game is dull and repetitive. Avoid at all costs.

Casino (Atarisoft)

Give this a wide berth, it's just dull. Lacklustre and as interesting as the tile department in the local DIY shop.
