I hate this sort of game. I kept thinking how bored I was yet I had to know, how it would all end. But play a whole campaign? No way. I couldn't keep my eyes open or brain functioning for that long.

Return Of The Witch Lord (Gremlin) (Commodore 64/128)

If you got to the end of Hero Quest and wished for more, then don't wait a moment longer. Witch Lord will give you what you want.

Rugby The World Cup (Domark) (Commodore 64)

Excellent fun, and as true a rugger game as we've ever seen - only a couple of real game features have been missed.

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (Lucasfilm) (Commodore 64/128)

The plodding way that the Indy sprite moves indicates it's sure to be the last crusade he tackles without the aid of orthopaedic footwear. Not recommended, except for the very patient.

Stunt Car Racer (Kixx) (Commodore 64/128)

You'll find this very tricky but immense fun as well. It's fast, the graphics are great and it's nail-bitingly, nerve-breakingly exciting.

Moonwalker (Kixx) (Commodore 64/128)

If you see someone coming, you moonwalk the other way and avoid them. Not exactly riveting and the game's neither responsive nor quick. A good cure for insomnia.

Soccer Rivals (Cult Games) (Commodore 64)

A management game you should manage to avoid. OK, it's no worse than any of the others but as raw, fast-living excitement is concerned you'd be better off checking under bus-seats for chewing-gum.

Power Drift (The Hit Squad) (Commodore 64/128)

A classic racing game. It was great first time round and, if you missed it then, you mustn't miss it now.

Altered Beast (The Hit Squad) (Commodore 64/128)

There's lots of nice scenery and no shortage of good, old-fashioned thumping to do, so if you're feeling adventurous, it's worth a go.

Quattro Coin-Ops (Codemasters) (Commodore 64/128)

None of these are brilliant but all are cheap and cheerful, just the way I like 'em.

Heroes Of The Lance (Kixx) (Commodore 64/128)

Not the most enjoyable beat-'em-up but one that should keep the fantasy fans drooling now that it's a quarter of its original price.

Good graphics, crap music and sound... An easy game to get into.

Fast and smooth graphics so you can feel the speed, plus nice blocky colours and a clear view (so if you come off your bike, it's your fault).

Battle Command (Ocean) (Commodore 64)

Lovely graphics to fight your way through, and the action-packed gameplay will grip you for hours.

Gateway To The Savage Frontier (Strategic Simulations Inc) (Commodore 64/128)

Absolutely massive (3 double-sided disks' worth!) and slow-paced adventuring via nested menus. If you like your games to dish out the action a little faster or you get put off by complexity, consider yourself duly warned.

Final Blow (Storm) (Commodore 64)

If you're an avid fight fan, then you'll probably get a blast out of Final Blow. With a big bowl of popcorn and a friend to play against, it's probably as much fun as a real thing... And pugilists everywhere can be guaranteed a whacking good time, if not the most sophisticated beat-'em-up ever seen.
