Caverns Of Kontonia (Atlantis) (Spectrum 48K)
There is not a lot to say about this game. It's uninspired, limited in scope and relatively plain in presentation.
Spike (Firebird Super Silver) (Spectrum 48K)
Only worth the money if you are an avid platform games junkie desperate for a fix.
The Master (Artic) (Spectrum 48K)
The addictiveness of the game makes up for the fact that the animation is a bit flickery and the colour combinations on most of the screens are a bit rough on the eyes.
Ninja Master (Firebird) (Spectrum 48K)
Enjoyable to play... Backgrounds are well drawn and colourful while the animation is reasonable.
Rugby Manager (Artic) (Spectrum 48K)
The animated graphic section is a little elementary but as the game does not rely on it to any great extent it isn't important.
Luna Atac (Atlantis) (Spectrum 48K)
Not a masterpiece in the Spectrum games field, but worth the money and will occupy an idle hour or two.
Split Personalities (Domark) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
A marvellous combination of strategy, puzzle and reactions.
The Force (Argus Press) (Spectrum 48K)
If you fancy a game that stretches more than your joystick, The Force could well be for you.
Cliff Hanger (New Generation) (Spectrum 48K)
As it stands, this just too many bad points including a bug or two.
Master Of Magic (Mastertronic Added Dimension) (Spectrum 48K)
A true arcade adventure... Although its graphics and sound are not outstanding, the game is extremely playable.
International Match Day (Ocean) (Spectrum 128K)
With so many options, combined with an excellent simulation of the game itself, International Match Day will be welcomed by all football fanatics with a 128.
Action Reflex (Mirrorsoft) (Spectrum 48K)
Action Reflex isn't going to win any awards for the most original game of all time, but it is an addictive and tricky game that needs a combination of arcade reflexes and a little bit of planning and judgement.
Cauldron II: The Pumpkin Strikes Back (Palace) (Spectrum 48K)
A game that's well designed and puts the emphasis on fun and playability rather than enormously complex icon menus and suchlike.
Knight Tyme (Mastertronic Added Dimension) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Spellbound received lavish praise... Knight Tyme should carry on the good work.
Snodgits (Sparklers) (Spectrum 48K)
Deserves a place in the Top Ten games of all time. The graphics are superb, chunky 3D affairs and I've not enjoyed a game like this for a long time.
Rebel Star (Firebird) (Spectrum 48K)
Although the game fails to generate much excitement or involvement, it might appeal to those who like their destruction and mayhem at a leisurely pace and don't want to get bogged down with complex gameplay.
Tantalus (Quicksilva) (Spectrum 48K)
The variety and detail in each screen makes this game more of a feast for the eyes than fodder for the brain.
Rupert And The Ice Castle (Bug Byte) (Spectrum 48K)
With such a small number of basically repetitious screens, there's not much of a game here to play.
Discovery Disk Drive 1 (Opus)
Lattice C (Metacomco)
Redhawk (Melbourne House) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
A sort of eccentric, one-off game... It could well be worth a look if you'd like to have a break from the more conventional games that are cluttering up the shelves.
Ghosts 'N Goblins (Elite) (Spectrum 48K)
I began to enjoy this once I'd worked out what was going on, but it was a bit of a chore getting there.
Seabase Delta (Firebird) (Spectrum 48K/Plus)
Good fun to play... and particularly good for the novice adventurer.
The Doomsday Papers (Matand) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
The "problems" aren't very inspired, tend to be similar, and are incredibly easy - I solved this in two hours flat!
Time Of The End (Mandarin Adventures) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Has raised its status from sadly flawed amateur effort to a worthy product.
Confrontation/Austerlitz (Lothlorien) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
If you already have the 48K version, don't bother with the update and if you don't have the earlier version, don't bother anyway.
An excellent introduction to the noble art of wargaming. It is very simple to play and provides a reasonable challenge.
Toadrunner (Ariolasoft) (Spectrum 48K)
An enjoyable game with enough perplexing problems to keep you on the hop.
The Code Machine (Discovery) (Spectrum 48K/128K/+2/+3)
It will not tell you how to program, but at least you will have a test and development environment that you can understand and use easily.
Arcade Creator (Argus Press) (Spectrum 48K)
The potential is definitely there for you to produce a mini-classic but you shouldn't expect to create a game that is anywhere near 'state of the art' by today's standards.
The Graphic Adventure Creator (Incentive) (Spectrum 48K)
A superb addition to the game writer's armoury... If Incentive can sort out the minor representational defects, then it could very well prove unbeatable.
Pyracurse (Hewson) (Spectrum 48K)
The simplicity of play, combined with the sophisticated 3D graphics, the expansive scrolling scenario and involved gameplay, makes Pyracurse a game well worth the money.
Mantronix (Probe) (Spectrum 48K)
A good, tricky shoot-'em-up, with a large playing area that should keep your trigger finger flexing for a long time.
Getting The Most From Your Printer (Babani) (Spectrum 48K)
Help for the hopeless but no hope for the helpless in this slim volume.
MIDI Projects (Babani) (Spectrum 48K)
For a home constructor bent on saving a few quid this book is well worth a browse.
Children At Risk (Kingsway) (Spectrum 48K)
I would classify this a a verbal purgative or a crie da la coeur. Here in one book are all the fears of a coming parent.
