The Secret Of Monkey Island (Lucasfilm)
Show-stopping games are few and far between but Monkey Island is definitely one of them.
Moonshine Racers adds a novel angle to a tired genre. You actually have to aim for something rather than just beat the clock or anther racing opponent.
Back To The Future Part III (Image Works)
This won't amaze you... It's simply a collection of rather pathetic sub-games cobbled together in a desperate attempt to sell the title on the strength of the film. And the parts simply don't add up to make a good whole.
As an educational experience, and an eye-opener to the demands of being a Head of State, 'Nam is superb. Few wargames come close to providing this level of insight.
You can become totally involved in Masterblazer because the illusion of speed is excellent. What's more, the difficulty level isn't so high that you give up after two goes.
The Killing Game Show (Psygnosis)
An excellent implementation of what could have been just another shoot-'em-up. It can be many different things to different people - a good old-fashioned blast, a complex platform game, even an arcade adventure.
It's very hard not to compare Predator 2 to Operation Wolf because the two games are virtually identical. The graphics of Predator 2 are slightly better, but then that's to be expected with a newer game.
A straightforward platform game lifted above the crowd by its humorous and enjoyable graphics and puzzles.
If there's any justice in the world this game should shift in droves, but somehow it's unlikely. The public just don't seem to be attracted to text adventures any more, particularly complex and innovative ones.
Graphically excellent... Gameplay is fast and comfortable... The two-player game is a giggle, and you could almost imagine you're stood in a pub - things get very competitive.
Test Drive II: The Accessories (Accolade)
If you're desperately into Test Drive 2, then check these accessories out.
There's little to recommend here. Ghouls 'N Ghosts runs against the flavour of the pack - it's actually a very good game.
Carrier Command (Mirror Image)
Graphics are good, and the great strategy element means you're going to be playing this game long after your latest licence gathers dust on the shelf.
Thalion: The First Year (Thalion)
Except for Warp, these are good games and the pack is good value.
Serious strategists are going to enjoy this game, although scope for gameplay does seem limited - a game doesn't take too long to complete.
It's nice to see a strategy game with decent gameplay and a style all of its own.
It's immensely simple to learn but offers an infinite capacity for experimentation.
