Linked reviews are available to view in full on this site.
Spriteman (Interceptor Micros) (Commodore 64)
Graphics are very good... Even if you are not skillful enough to get past the first screen, the game is fun and compulsive.
Galactic Invasion (JRS) (Jupiter Ace)
Quite a good implementation of the old favourite, but I would be more enthusiastic if I had not seen it so often done rather better by machines with colour and using machine code.
Frogger (Rabbit) (Commodore Vic 20)
Graphics are good, especially the alligators - not for faint-hearted frogs.
Space Invaders (Molimerx) (Colour Genie)
Written in machine language and... capable of very fast action at the higher level of difficulty.
Maze Chase (Hewson) (Spectrum 16K)
The graphics are just user defined characters and are not very clear.
Matrix (Llamasoft) (Commodore 64)
The instruction card is very good, setting the scene for the game and giving a detailed explanation of the scoring.
Kaktus (Supersoft) (Commodore 64)
C64 owners should enjoy this game for its graphics and originality, but bear in mind it is fairly expensive.
Android One (Vortex) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
There are five skill levels - the most difficult seems impossible, while the easiest is fast enough to be a challenge.
Acnean Mutoids (Soft Joe's) (BBC Model B)
Well-priced for its contents and should appeal to younger players.
Mangrove (Supersoft) (Commodore 64)
The concept behind the game is good but I feel it could have been implemented more imaginatively with better graphics and sound.
Cycle Planner/Growth Tracker (Medidata) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Won't sell in the same numbers as space games, which is a pity, for it's much more useful and educational than Invaders.
Stock Control (Epsom) (Sharp MZ80K)
As the program is written, a maximum of 50 items may be held on file.
Learn To Play Guitar (Lasersound) (Spectrum 16K)
The instructions and explanations are almost non-existent - which is appalling for an educational program.
Tele-Tutor 1 (Microdeal) (Dragon 32)
There's a lot of potential for this sort of package and it bodes well for the Dragon's future as a school-based computer.
Puncman 1 & 2 (Chalksoft) (BBC Model B)
Teachers can easily insert their own correct text into the DATA statements within the program.
A, B, C ... Lift Off! (Longman) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
A good, but not outstanding program, which is well error-trapped, bug-free and reasonably user friendly.
A major point is the total lack of a screen dumping facility - so your masterpiece is lost forever as soon as another is created.
Hide And Seek (ASK) (BBC/Electron)
I would suggest you use command *FX210,1 before loading, as this will stop the constant sound effects from driving you mad.
Frogger (Microdeal) (Tandy Color Computer 1/2/3)
I enjoyed the game, and found it much more playable once I had got accustomed to telling crocodiles apart from logs.
Super Frogger (Norton) (TI99/4A)
You have four 'lives' and once you get the hang of it, it can be quite good fun.
Frogger 64 (Interceptor Micros) (Commodore 64)
Potentially a winner... The trouble is that it contains some bugs.
Raider Of The Cursed Mine (Arcade) (Spectrum 48K)
Once you've got the hang of it, the game drags on interminably, because the difficulty remains the same.
Star Trek (Interceptor Micros) (Commodore 64)
Not a bad version of a good old standard, and at the price, a good buy.
