Disco Dan (Sinclair Research) (Spectrum 48K)
The sound is good and the graphics are adequate without being exciting. I found it became a bit boring after a while.
Some serious value for money here... Five for the price of one can't be a bad thing!
UXB (Virgin Games) (Dragon 32)
The game is good... but once you have mastered it there is no point in replaying.
Road Toad (Audiogenic) (Commodore 64)
If you're not a Frogger fan, this game will not convert you. If you are then you could do better on your C64.
Mr. Wimpy (Ocean) (Spectrum 48K)
An entertaining piece of software with excellent graphics, neat sound effects and responsive, well-positioned, controls which make it deserve a place in any arcade collection.
Zodiac (Anirog) (Commodore 64)
A brilliant game from Anirog, using well-animated graphics, and superb synthy sound.
Gravitor (Severn) (Oric 48K/Atmos)
This game is better than most - but is unlikely to become a classic.
Blue Thunder (Richard Wilcox) (Spectrum 48K)
A game definitely worth having a look at. The graphics are good and I find the game appealing - it is a bit like a Skramble-type game, and certainly the destruction of the reactor is a challenging task.
Two Gun Turtle (Lothlorien) (Spectrum 16K)
The game as a whole is reasonably entertaining, but, in my opinion, it doesn't justify its price tag.
Night Gunner (Digital Integration) (Spectrum 48K)
I expected something good for this - and I got it... Highly addictive and recommended.
H.E.R.O. (Activision) (Atari 2600)
A rather comical game due to the prop-pack and the strange-looking snakes. Because of these factors, it's also very entertaining.
Pitfall 2: Lost Caverns (Activision) (Atari 2600)
The graphics are very good... I always find you need a lot of patience for maze and adventure games - if you do have this virtue I would recommend you to buy Pitfall II.
River Raid (Activision) (Coleco Vision Games System)
All about killing the enemy. It needs a fair amount of skill, but there are better games available that have the same objective.
Pitfall (Activision) (Coleco Vision Games System)
After a while, this gets rather tiring as you have to watch it every time your three lives are lost. Cuthbert In The Jungle, even though it is a rip-off of this game, is more exciting and has better graphics.
Solar Fox (CBS Electronics) (Atari 2600)
Just a space-age version of Pac-man. It's not exactly riveting - the whole object of the game is to shoot at things and avoid fireballs. The graphics are not particularly wonderful either.
Psi-Spy (Postern) (Spectrum 48K)
The menu-driven controls consist of seventeen different keys although only five are in use at any one time.
Pacific War (Cases Computer Simulations) (Spectrum 48K)
Will be welcomed by the wargamer entering the computer field, but despised by the computer user attempting his first wargame.
Stockmarket (Argus Press) (Dragon 32)
If you're the sort of person who has always dreamt of making a million (and who hasn't?) then you will probably enjoy this game. If you aren't, then you won't.
Lost City (Superior) (BBC Model B)
Despite one or two faults, Lost City is a well-thought-out adventure.
Planetfall (Argus Press) (BBC Model B)
Clearly this is quite a complicated game and it won't appeal to everyone. But I found it engrossing and worth recommending to those who like to stretch their minds rather than their trigger fingers.
Colditz (Phipps Associates) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
The adventure as a whole is good quality, challenging, and unusually addictive for an adventure game in the same price range.
1984 (Incentive) (Spectrum 48K)
Full graphic displays, histograms and annual performance rating make this a good game to buy.
Ad Astra (Gargoyle Games) (Spectrum 48K)
An ideal arcade type game. The further you get each time, the further you want to go.
Revenge Of The Killer Tomatoes (Visions) (Spectrum 48K)
A reasonably good game to add to your library... It's fairly addictive and has reasonable sound.
Knight Driver (Hewson Consultants) (Spectrum 48K)
The graphics are good with houses and trees around the track. The sound is reasonable too... It's addictive and a good buy.
Space Command (Virgin Games) (Spectrum 48K)
Although it's a shoot-'em-up game, along the Defender/Scramble format, the attractive graphics, good sound, and quality packaging make this an attractive product.
Danger Ranger (Microdeal) (Atari 400/800/600XL/800XL/130XE)
An exciting game which uses colour well.
The Adventures Of Robin Hood (English) (Atari 400/800/600XL/800XL/130XE)
Well worth getting. The graphics are adequate, but sound is not very convincing.
Quack-A-Jack (Severn) (Oric 48K/Atmos)
The graphics and sound are very good but the game does not hold interest for very long.
Pontoon/Cribbage (IMS Software) (Oric 1/Oric 48K)
The cassette contains two classic games, but beware, loading both games is very difficult so maybe the cassette should include the real card game - patience!
Snackman (Tom Mix) (Commodore Vic 20)
I've seen so many better copies of the Pac-Man format, this is not even worth considering.
