Linked reviews are available to view in full on this site.
Masters Of The Universe (US Gold) (Commodore 64/128)
It isn't bad, but the slow and fidgety gameplay means that, as tanned and muscular as he may be, He-Man just doesn't have the power!
Bombjack II (Elite) (Commodore 64)
The only thing that saves Bombjack II from disaster is its great gameplay, the most of it being the thinking and planning that you have to do.
Krakout (Gremlin) (Commodore 64/128)
Krakout is originally great to play. However, if you haven't yet played Arkanoid, I'd go for that one instead, as it's a much superior game.
Leaderboard Executive Edition (US Gold/Access) (Commodore 64)
If you haven't got the original Leaderboard already then you have my unreserved recommendation.
Grange Hill (Argus Press) (Commodore 64)
Everything is rubbish concerning this game... It's Mr. Block meets the monochrome graphics... Move your mass of blocks around the variety of boringly coloured, sparsely drawn screens, avoiding false teeth, puddles and dogs.
Into The Eagle's Nest (Pandora) (Commodore 64/128)
Gauntlet masquerading as WWII fantasy... Apparently, there are the three prisoners waiting to be found. I've yet to clap eyes on one.
Elevator Action (Quicksilva) (Commodore 64)
I wouldn't advise even the most ardent Elevator Action fan to play this version!
Shard Of Spring (SSI) (Commodore 64/128)
Should appeal to all Role Playing Gamers... You do need at least two people in the party for it to really appeal, though.
Cholo (Firebird) (Commodore 64/128)
This is in the same league as Firebird's other classics Elite and Sentinel.
Magic Madness (Anco) (Commodore 64)
A sub-standard beat-'em-up thinly disguised as a sub-standard arcade-adventure, Magic Madness is too cute for its own good and is unlikely to appeal to anyone.
Cyber One (Creative Sparks/Super Sparklers) (Commodore 64)
An above average game which relies mainly on its price for its attraction.
Short Circuit (Ocean) (Commodore 64/128)
A pretty basic, pick-up and drop arcade adventure. If that is what you're looking for, fine. If not, don't be blinded by the name and screen shots.
Explorer (Electric Dreams) (Commodore 64/128)
I know it's comparatively early in the year, but nevertheless I nominate Explorer as The Most Boring Game of 1987.
Night Walker (Micro Classic) (Commodore 64)
The re-release changes the name but is still worth the same rave reviews it garnered the first time round.
The Equalizer (The Power House) (Commodore 64/128)
Despite the ludicrous scenario and insane gameplay, the game has a mysterious addictive quality that makes you have just one more game.
Aftermath (The Power House) (Commodore 64/128)
A good shoot-'em-up, but I'm sure I've seen it all before in Xevious.
Mutants (Ocean) (Commodore 64/128)
Ocean have saddled Mutants with a silly title and even sillier background story. A pity, because the game is actually quite good and quite capable of surviving on its own merits, without all the blarney.
Sport Of Kings (Mastertronic) (Commodore 64/128)
Sport Of Kings is entertaining and very polished, but you do have to have more than a passing knowledge of the gee gees to understand the form card. In fact, you probably need to spend at least three days in William Hill!
Aliens (Electric Dreams) (Commodore 64)
Good, solid, unpretentious entertainment. Just like the film, in fact.
Olli And Lissa (Firebird) (Commodore 64/128)
Firebird is a company that tends to produce a mixture of good and bad cheapo games. This happens to be one of the goodies.
Shao-Lins Road (The Edge) (Commodore 64/128)
Absolutely nothing remotely like the original arcade game, and definitely one to give a miss.
Ranarama (Hewson) (Commodore 64)
Steve Turner is best known for his Spectrum games such as Avalon and Quazatron but this, the first to be converted for the C64, will find a new group of Turner fans waiting to delve into his latest chartbuster.
S.O.S. (Mastertronic) (Commodore 64/128)
As cheapos go, this is a fairly standard affair to keep you going for a few hours. Only bored arcade adventures need apply.
Sun Star (CRL) (Commodore 64/128)
Dodgy graphics, boring sound effects consisting largely of roaring noises, irritating gameplay and no variation at all - Sun Star is off-target all the way.
The Fifth Axis (Loriciels) (Commodore 64)
In every department, this game is mediocre: graphics, sound and gameplay.
Sinbad And The Throne Of The Falcon (Mindscape) (Amiga 500)
One of the best games yet produced for the Amiga. It may not quite be the prettiest, but it has a great deal of depth, and should keep most gamesplayers happy for many hours.
Paperboy (Elite) (Commodore 16)
This version is far, far too easy. If it's going to work, it either needs more obstacles or they will have to be more awkward to avoid.
Molecule Man (Mastertronic) (Commodore 16/Plus 4)
If you like arcade adventures, don't give it a miss because of the keyboard controls. Give your joystick a rest and I think you'll find that for only two smakaroonies this is definitely a bargain and a half.
Master Chess (Mastertronic) (Commodore 16/Plus 4)
What a disappointment. This has got to be the biggest con since Commando.
Bubble Trouble (Players) (Commodore 16/Plus 4)
There is nothing mega-exciting about it, but it's a cute game, enjoyable to play and, like most of the Players range, good value.
Storm (Mastertronic) (Commodore 16/Plus 4)
The kind of game that definitely needs to be played by two people to get the most out of it. Having said that, as a one player game, it still has a lot to offer.
Murder Off Miami (CRL) (Commodore 64/128)
If you have played one of the Infocom detective series, don't bother with this - I can guarantee you will find it deadly boring.
Imagination (Firebird) (Commodore 64/128)
There are such big problems with the structure of this that I consider it an example of adventure writing at its worst, and I gave up playing it in disgust.
Necris Dome (CodeMasters) (Commodore 64/128)
Reviewers should be paid an enhanced rate for being forced to play games like this!
Spy Trek (Americana) (Commodore 64)
There are graphics, but they are nothing to write home about - they mainly serve to help identify the current location. Expect problems, but trivia as well.
