Predator 2 (Image Works) (Commodore 64/128)
Why should you get this? In a word, gameplay. It takes an old formula, builds on it, builds on it a bit more, then adds a coat of varnish and voila - you have a fast, polished blast that'll have you screaming with angst but loving every minute of it.
Viz The Game (Virgin Games) (Commodore 64/128)
It says in the intro, "Who'd have thought that eleven years later, at the end of of a decade of phenomenal success, Viz would end up trying to flog a mediocre computer game in a desperate bid to make a few bob?" Bang on, guys.
Elvira Mistress Of The Dark (Flair) (Commodore 64/128)
A cinematic treat, featuring really well-worked-out puzzles for you to figure out. Its grisly sense of humour should appeal to macabre horror fans everywhere!
Huxley Pig (Alternative) (Commodore 64/128)
Could have been a kiddies' favourite like the TV programme but it's too difficult. It's possible to die only seconds after starting.
Rambo III (The Hit Squad) (Commodore 64/128)
The graphics are fine and the gameplay bearable but there's nothing really interesting here. There are much better games of similar ilk.
Techno Cop (Kixx) (Commodore 64/128)
You won't exactly swoon over its technical brilliance, but it's sufficiently playable to justify spending the dosh on this neat little drive 'n blast.
Passing Shot (Encore) (Commodore 64/128)
It's not bad, as tennis games go. There are minor niggles, like the way you can't see your player when the ball's in your opponent's half, making positioning for the return shot tricky. That aside, it's playable, looks good and is above all cheap.
Popeye 2 (Alternative) (Commodore 64/128)
Big colourful visuals, a good soundtrack and plenty of playability makes Popeye 2 an all-round hoot.
Super Scramble Simulator (Kixx) (Commodore 64/128)
Not for the faint hearted. The graphics are big and well defined and the different courses provide huge variety. I suspect it's just too flippin' hard for the majority of gamesters, though.
Driller (The Hit Squad) (Commodore 64/128)
The 3D runs horribly slowly, but if you can live with this problem (and you do get used to it), there's a wealth of excellent features and stunning visuals to get to grips with.
The Real Ghostbusters (The Hit Squad) (Commodore 64/128)
The graphics are messy in places but work fairly well overall. Sound is good and, as for playability, there's plenty for the solo player and loads for a team of two. Worth a look.
Great Gurianos (Encore) (Commodore 64/128)
Monstrous great sprites and varied backdrops are visually pleasing. Gameplay though is dead simple so if you're a bit of a boffin, think twice.
Skull And Crossbones (Domark) (Commodore 64/128)
The game is fairly playable but too simplistic; it's simply not sophisticated enough for your average games player.
Moonshadow (Ocean) (Commodore 64/128)
Good visuals, good sound and inexplicably gripping gameplay make Moonshadow worth basking in.
Atomino (Psygnosis) (Commodore 64/128)
Fits snugly into the mould forged by the likes of Tetris, Puzznic and Atomix, but has enough new features and innovative gameplay for it it snugly into your puzzle collection as well.
Narco Police (Dinamic) (Commodore 64/128)
A very different kind of game... It's very more-ish, despite the fact that you keep getting blasted off the screen at first. I'd say that the Narco Police should expect a few more recruits when it hits the streets.
Hell Hole (CRL) (Commodore 64/128)
Smart graphics, with large animated monsters and a pleasing variety of enemies. When you begin to remember where the tougher aliens appear and form a plan of attack, you start to make progress. Collecting the right weapons at the right time is absolutely vital.
