Adventure Games For The Electron (Granada)
A worthwhile book for the serious game creator, and a good read for those who are very experienced or just mildly interested.
Electron Graphics And Sound (Graphics)
A useful introduction to its subjects demanding no great degree of previous programming experience.
This game was one of the big successes on the C64 and Spectrum, but I didn't find the action or the graphics particularly impressive.
If you're looking for a game for Christmas, Nightworld will disappoint you - try and find something better.
Brilliant! Repton 2 is better than anything I've played on the BBC Micro or Electron before.
Lode Runner (Software Projects)
Fast and frustrating fun... Comes complete with a staggering 160 screens and some are decidedly devious.
Adventure addicts will adore The Hobbit, but even those who, like myself, are very choosy when it comes to adventures, will enjoy it thoroughly.
Congratulations to the author, Geraint Wiggins, for two clever and practical programs, a clear and informative instruction booklet - and a quite brilliant example piece for the Sequencer to demonstrate just what is possible.
Guitar Chord Tutor (P. R. Adby)
The instruction booklet, by Paul Adby, is clear and accurate; the graphics, such as they are, are rudimentary but quite adequate; only the sound lets it down - which is rather a pity in a program which is all about making sound!
If you haven't got any of the games on this tape, then buy it! Even if you've already got a couple, it's still worth having, considering it's only going to set you back a tenner.
Anyone who wants to learn something and enjoy themselves at the same time could do a lot worse than buy this.
Graphics Extension ROM (Acornsoft)
If you're into graphics and can find room for one more ROM, this has got to be the one.
DDD Base, DDD Calc, DDD Plus (Gemini)
Each package can handle a very large data set and, although the speed is slow compared with more conventional products, the trio of programs is sound and is very good value for money.
ROM Manager (Watford Electronics)
Some of the contents are provided elsewhere overall this is fairly good value.
A very useful toolkit. It provides the main routines you might expect in a machine-code development package, and the inclusion of the full-screen Basic editor makes it attractive.
The Buffer And Backup ROM (Watford Electronics)
It contains nothing unique, but all the commands can make life easier for you and it is good value.
The BBC Micro Add-on Guide (Collins)
About the only point on which this Add-on Guide is not helpful is... where do you put all those gadgets after you've bought them!
Get More From Your Epson Printer (Collins)/Epson Printer User's Handbook (Century)
A good meaty book and a useful adjunct to the Epson manual.
