Microball

Now this is a nice surprise! On seeing a budget pinball simulation my heart sank - after all, didn't Kansas produce their one interesting game with Pinball Arcade, with built-in pinball machine editor ages ago?

Yet this has style - and a fair turn of speed! A fairly standard pinball machine format and five balls per turn with control only over two flippers - it seems so unreal now that pinball arcades used to give us as much excitement as coin-ops now do!

Coded by Steve Evans of Eagle Empire fame, this game is very playable - lots of bells, whizzes and bursts of sound as the ball careers around the machine, speeding up and hovering temptingly just like a real machine.

This would easily sell on merit as a full price game and, as a budget release, is an essential purchase. A simple idea produced in an uncomplicated way but with real talent - a gem!
