Jet Pac

Back in 1984 there was one name on all games players' lips - the software house Ultimate. Somehow everything they touched turned to gold and we were astounded, firstly, by their advances in Spectrum programming and, secondly, by their ability to transfer such state-of-the-art games to the BBC.

Now Ricochet (part of Mastertronic) are re-releasing the classic Ultimate games, beginning with ace shoot-'em-up Jet Pac. If you've never seen this then it is a revelation - the screen is just so full of large high speed sprites and the basic gameplay is just finger on the fire button and hope!

Moving around the busy screen, powered by your jet back pack, you must collect and assemble parts of your spaceship to clear the screen. The game never lets you rest for a second, and I love it! If you've never played this then make sure it is very high on your list of essential purchases this month - I guarantee that you won't be disappointed. If this was a new game then it would still wipe the floor with most of the opposition; to own it and still have change from £2 restores my faith in the world!
