Ninja Warriors (Taito) (Mega CD (Japanese Version))
The programmers were obviously ordered to faithfully convert Ninja Warriors to the Mega-CD. This they have done. The thing is, the original coin-op was mind-numbingly tedious with very little in the way of thrills or reaction testing. Hence what we have here is a waste of time.
Global Gladiators (Virgin) (Sega Master System (EU Version))
The control over Mick and Mack is way too floaty... There are far too many opportunities for disaster as soon as the war against pollution commences.
Battletoads (Tradewest) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
Although it is just a graphically enhanced version of an 8-bit game, Battletoads is very playable and poses a very tough challenge.
Splatterhouse 3 (Namco) (Sega Genesis)
Though it may look and sound okay, Splatterhouse III offers nothing new except a wild imagination with nowhere to go. Beat-'em-up and gore fans alike should find this a disappointment.
Mickey Mouse 2 (Disney/Sega) (Sega Game Gear (EU Version))
This is probably the best arcade adventure for the Game Gear. It's faster, more challenging and entertaining than Mickey Mouse 1.
The Adventures Of Willy Beamish (Dynamix) (Sega CD (US Version))
A welcome concept in console games, Willy Beamish is let down by being far too slow (due to disc access) and sluggish to control. The lack of real interaction with the game really lets it down as well.
Hardball III (Accolade) (Sega Genesis/Sega Mega Drive)
The best console baseball simulation to date.
Doraemon Adventure (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (JP Version))
A very enjoyable, beautifully presented little cart that is too short-lived because of easy gameplay and a plentiful supply of extra lives.
James Pond (Electronic Arts) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
High quality Megadrive platform games are very common these days, and this early example looks very dated.
Sword Of Vermillion (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
Sword Of Vermillion looks very dull and dated nowadays, compared to the likes of Shining Force and Landstalker.
World Class Leader Board (Electronic Arts) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
Still the best golf game on Master System. As simple as that.
After Burner (Electronic Arts) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
Repetitive it may be, but this is very fast, highly challenging and great fun. It's still brill after all these years.
Darius II (Taito) (Sega Mega Drive (JP Version))
I still quite like this - it's got five different endings and loads to shoot.
Galaxy Force (Sega) (Sega Master System (EU Version))
One of the best blasters Master System owners can get their hands on.
Midnight Resistance (Data East) (Sega Genesis)
This is fun - but what a pushover. It's not at all challenging and can be finished in hours on Easy level.
Joe Montana (Electronic Arts) (Sega Master System (EU Version))
Boredom Central. Joe Montana was only just average in its day and these days it's a particularly bad game.
