Dragonfly (Hewson) (Dragon 32)
Fairly easy to take off, but even easier to crash - which I did with monotonous regularity every time I tried to land.
Adventure Plus (Premier Microsystems) (Dragon 32)
Recommended if you want a reasonable start to this type of game but once it's completed there are no surprises.
Sir Lancelot (Alton) (Dragon 32/64)
Seems ideally suited to those who, struggling with more complex adventures, get frustrated easily.
Morocco Grand Prix (Microdeal) (Dragon 32)
Too slow for my tastes, even though it is in machine code, and provides no real challenge.
Jumping Jack (Imagine) (Spectrum 16K)
The game appears to be so simple, you feel just one more go will give you that ace unbeatable score.
Galactic Jailbreak (Apocalypse) (Spectrum 48K)
Galactic Jailbreak is interesting, but below the standard set by some other Spectrum games.
Gun Law (Vortex) (Spectrum 16K)
Next time you mosey on down to the software store, give Gun Law a spin.
The Last Jedi (Amazing Games) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Excellent value, with hours of intrigue... although marred by some spelling mistakes.
Alien Dropout (Superior) (BBC Model B)
The Beeb's features are all well used - graphics, colour and sound - in fact, these moths are decidedly noisy.
Arena III (Lizard Games) (TI99/4A)
No reminder of your progress is given or even a "best so far".
Kamakazi (A 'n F) (Spectrum 16K)
Compares favourably with any game you would find in an amusement arcade.
Marathon/Maths For Fun (English) (Atari 800XL)
Marathon succeeds admirably and Maths For Fun is a tragic failure.
Titre (Cloud 9) (Spectrum 16K)
A good tape and a good idea that could, and should, be taken much further.
Maths Games (Premier Microsystems) (Dragon 32)
A good feature in the division game was the multiple choice format which enhances the skill of approximation.
Hidden Letters (Poppy Programs) (Spectrum 48K)
Quite an ingenious program, well thought out and presented, though I would have liked to see more use of colour to brighten up the mostly black on white displays.
Mathematical Graphics (Village) (BBC Model B)
There were a number of program errors which prevented me from using the circle drawing option.
Gamespack (Sector 7) (Oric 1/Oric 48K)
On the whole these programs are quite well written, even though the ideas behind them are not all that fantastic.
Venture (Protek) (Spectrum 48K)
The graphics are very good indeed, and there are some amusing comments here and there.
Biorhythms/Farmer/Play Your Cards/Snooker (Stainless) (TI99/4A)
Poor error-trapping gives impossible results... and the program sometimes crashes completely!
Last Sunset For Lattica (Arcade) (Spectrum 48K)
There are some bugs - androids occasionally fail to die when hit, and your gun jams when it should fire.
Base Invaders/Scramble/High Noon (Work Force) (Spectrum 16K)
This beginners' pack at just £6.50 gives you a great deal for your money.
Splat (Incentive) (Spectrum 48K)
This game is well done, with some very good graphics, and it will present a useful challenge.
Wonderworm (Havensoft) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
A good adventure game which, although not pushing back the frontiers, is worth the money.
The Detective (Arcade) (Spectrum 48K)
The graphics detail was exceptionally good... but even that was not enough to make up for the disappointment of the presentation.
