Young Freddy has decided to raid Mr. Meano's back garden, collecting the growing fruit before they go to seed and multiply - pick them before they're ripe and Mr. Meano will be after him. Look out for those pesky bees or knock them out with the can of DDT before it runs out. Avoid the Crazy Crimson Catapillar and the sparrow with its deadly droppings but grab the sweets, drink and other goodies. Can you make Fruity Freddy's perilous task fruitful? Smooth multi-coloured graphics and all standard arcade features make this a most enjoyable game. 100% machine code.
Freddy's job is to pick all the fruit in Mr. Meano's back garden without being killed. The fruit starts off as seeds and then grows into plants and flowers and finally into large bulbous fruit which is safe to pick. The larger the fruit, the more points you obtain but if you leave it too late the fruit the more points you obtain but if you leave it too late the fruit will go to seed and multiply to form up to four new seeds which themselves start to grow and so on. Mr. Meano is looking from his house and if your tread on a plant before it is bearing fruit, he'll be after you and if he catches you, you'll be for the high jump!
Mr. Meano also keeps a beehive in his back garden from which emerge the bees to chase you around the garden and sting you if you're caught. Grab the ban of DDT and you can knock them out but you'll have to be quick or the can will run dry.
The Crazy Crimson Catapillar patrols the garden, crawling at high speed on later sheets, so avoid him. Flying along the top of the screen is a sparrow, releasing deadly droppings! Avoid these at all costs - they are killers!
Ticking away at the top of the scren is the bonus value and if it reaches zero before you've completed the sheet you again forfeit a life. There are, however, compensations for this hazardous escapade in the form of sweets and other goodies appearing at random in the corners of the garden. Be quick to grab them or they will disappear. There is a different goodie for every level including lollies, cakes, sweets, cans of drink, etc.
You score 100 - 300 points for eating the different sizes of fruit, 100 - 900 points for eating the different goodies, 100 points for knocking out a bee with the DDT. When you complete a sheet your remaining bonus points are added to the score.
You start with three lives but an extra life is obtained when you score 30,000 points.
When you have cleared the garden of fruit, you move onto the next level which gets progressively faster and faster. There are nine levels in all and you can start at any level at the beginning of the game. You'll have to find out for yourself exactly what lies beyond the ninth level.
Good luck!
