Linked reviews are available to view in full on this site.
Impossible Mission (Epyx) (Commodore 64)
The Spectrum has Manic Miner and the BBC has Elite. But the C64 has Impossible Mission, one of the best computer games I have ever played.
Athletic Land (Micro Peripherals) (MSX)
The simple and light theme of this game shows that things don't necessary need to be complex to make good entertainment.
The Staff Of Karnath (Ultimate) (Commodore 64)
A good solid game... Excellent gameplay and follows Ultimate's arcade adventure style, much loved by Spectrum owners.
Moon Patrol (Atarisoft) (Atari 2600)
The graphics are good and the scrolling, as you'd expect from Atari, is excellent.
Death Star Interceptor (System 3) (Spectrum 48K)
Death Star Interceptor is an all-action shoot-out with some nice new features - like the neat sound effects.
Ghostbusters (Activision) (Spectrum 48K)
Simply a great value game! Graphics are good and the sound isn't bad either - and most importantly you'll have fun playing it.
Pyjamarama (Mikro-Gen) (Amstrad CPC464)
Its addictive qualities are high and it's well worth the money for the amount of enjoyment you'll get. Full marks!
Conan (Datasoft) (Commodore 64)
A real treat for games-starved Atari owners - and a good bet for C64 platform fans.
Gryphon (Quicksilva) (Commodore 64)
Don't expect it to be easy - it isn't. But Gryphon is a lot of fun if you are prepared to give it a chance!
The Quadra (Software Projects) (Commodore Vic 20)
Quadra has some simple but effective graphics, good sound and fast action. Good value for money if you are a Vic-owning arcade addict.
Squish (Palace) (Commodore Vic 20)
The graphics are up to standard for the Vic and the game is extremely addictive.
Hellfire (Melbourne House) (Spectrum 48K)
Features nice graphics and a pretty good line in playability. Climbing up the Olympian slopes is no easy task, but if you are a platform fan and like a challenge, take a look at Hellfire.
Monty Is Innocent (Gremlin Graphics) (Spectrum 48K)
Gremlin are building up a nice set of computer characters - I'll be waiting for the further exploits of Monty Mole and Sam Stoat with interest.
Roller Kong (Melbourne House) (Commodore 16)
Generally a good laugh and certainly very easy, this game is a really good bet if you have a joystick.
Brian Bloodaxe (The Edge) (Spectrum 48K)
Just as the blurb says, Brian Bloodaxe takes Jet Set Willy one stage further. Don't fail to check this one out!
Technician Ted (Hewson Consultants) (Spectrum 48K)
This will keep platform freaks - and map makers - busy for weeks.
Alien 8 (Ultimate) (Spectrum 48K)
Another classic arcade adventure from Ultimate - superb graphics, good sound and... well, just rush out and get it.
Frak (Statesoft) (Commodore 64)
A well written and produced game. However, cute little caveman and furry monsters aren't enough to make a top-selling one.
Software Star (Addictive Games) (Spectrum 48K)
An original strategy style game which could catch on. It will certainly make any would-be software supremo think twice about starting up his or her own business.
Finders Keepers (Mastertronic) (Spectrum 48K)
Mastertronic have a real hit on their hands with Finders Keepers. A number one? You bet!
Sorcery (Amsoft) (Amstrad CPC464)
There are 40 screens to wend your way through - each one with something new to delight the eye... Screenshots can't hope to do it justice.
Great scenario - shame about the execution of the game. The graphics just aren't up to the standard expected on the C64 these days.
