An original theme and fairly playable - although the graphics could be slightly better.

Cadcam Warrior (Taskset) (Commodore 64)

Fast, very playable and even moreish.

School Daze (Microsphere) (Spectrum 48K)

The most original and entertaining game to be released... for any age.

Labyrinth (Acornsoft) (BBC Model B)

A well thought out and designed program - definitely up to the standard of Acornsoft's Elite.

Viking Raiders (Firebird) (Spectrum 48K)

The graphics are not much to write home about, but it's an entertaining enough game.

Blue Max (U. S. Gold) (Commodore 64)

The aircraft handles really nicely - you get a real impression of controlling a plane in flight. The graphics are quite good, the sound is adequate and the program presentation is good.

Mutant Monty (Artic Computing) (Spectrum 48K)

Not an easy game by any means. You only have five lives and you play against the clock.

Moto Cross (System 3) (Commodore 64)

A reasonable buy... Graphics are smooth, and sound is good. The engine sounds are realistic and the little man who comes on to wave the starting flag is cute.

Hunchback (Ocean) (Amstrad CPC464)

Hmmm, it's one of those games where you wonder whether it's really worth it. And it's not, unless you're masochistic enough to really get into all the hassle this game offers you.

Sim (Viper) (BBC/Electron)

At the beginning of last year, Sim would have stood a chance of impressing people but the game market has moved on a lot since then and I'm afraid that companies like Viper won't last if they don't rethink their approach.

Lode Runner (Software Projects) (Spectrum 48K/128K)

Lode Runner rightly has a great reputation as a quality game - and this Spectrum version is no exception.

Airwolf (Elite) (Spectrum 48K)

Elite's best yet. Gameplay is addictive - and you must move fast to get through those force fields once you've blasted a way through otherwise they close up on you!

Black Thunder (Quicksilva) (Commodore 64)

Graphics are excellent and game action is, well, frantic! Superb fun for shoot out fanatics with quick reactions.

Breakdance (Epyx) (Commodore 64)

Full marks for originality - but I'm not sure who will want to play the game.

American Football (Amsoft) (Amstrad CPC464)

Great fun for American Football fans everywhere.

Indiana Jones In The Lost Kingdom (Mindscape International Inc) (Commodore 64)

A bit of a disappointing game given that it's based on the exploits of such a superhero as Indiana Jones.

Gift From The Gods (Ocean) (Spectrum 48K)

Great fun to play... you never know just what you are going to find around the next corner!

The Great Space Race (Legend) (Spectrum 48K)

A nice looking game but - despite the nice graphics and all that packaging - not really worth the £14 price tag.

The game is well presented and the graphics and sound are adequate but how long will these Decathlon clones keep their playability value?
