It's all on the difficult side really - no matter how careful you are there's always a giant soldier who pops up and shoots at you!

Daley Thompson's Olympic Challenge (The Hit Squad)

It's a real simulation... because all that continuous waggling from left to right is as exhausting as the real thing!

Grand Prix Circuit (Accolade)

Grand Prix Circuit is not impressive. A mediocre racing simulation from Accolade.

Multi Player Soccer Manager (D&H Games)

Yet another football management game. I sometimes wonder what the point is. The inlay boasts features like 'crowd violence' and 'weekly balance', but these don't get me very excited.

New York Warriors (Virgin Games)

This game would be OK, on a budget label, but I for one would pay ten quid for this donkey.

Outlaw (Players Premier)

Outlaw is a difficult game to master: the main problem is that the ground is speckled so it's almost impossible to see enemy fire.

Pang (Ocean)

The detailed backgrounds and the smooth way the bubbles move across the screen make the game a graphical delight and sound's not too bad either.

Poseidon: Planet Eleven (Hi-Tec)

Poseidon: Planet Eleven is nothing new but it's a reasonable arcade adventure.

Prison Riot (Players Premier)

An excellent arcade adventure and the only hang up is that you have only one life.

Rastan (The Hit Squad)

The 48K game is slightly different to the 128K version in that each level has to be loaded in separately and you lose the music.

Rick Dangerous 2 (Micro-Style)

May not be the most original game ever but is certainly loads of fun.

Solar Empire (Players Premier)

Gameplay is essentially an eight-way scrolling shoot-'em-up but with a yucky 'intellectual aspect' thrown in.

The Spy Who Loved Me (Domark)

Learning by your mistakes is the only way to succeed here... It won't keep me playing for long!

Saint Dragon (Storm)

The main sprite moves very smoothly, and despite the fair bit of colour on screen there’s little colour clash.

Turbo Cup Challenge (Players Premier)

Is it any good? Hummmm, it's okay, just not very exciting.

The Famous Five: Five On A Treasure Island (Enigma Variations)

Graphics, though being a series of static pictures, are colourful and very visual, so all clues can be spotted on the screen.

Even if this were a budget compilation, I would consider the games included to be poor value for money.

Sam Strikes Out is definitely the best of the two games with Futureball just a bonus for buying the pack.
