Computer Kensington (Leisure Genius) (BBC Model B)
This game requires more than just manual dexterity and will offer a great deal of pleasure to those who enjoy pitting their wits against a rival - be it another person or the computer.
Look-Alike (Ega Beva) (BBC Model B)
This educational suite will be equally useful at home, in the nursery/reception class or in special schools.
Crossword (Manchester University Press) (BBC Model B)
I'm sure a lot of young enthusiasts will enjoy using the program to compile their crossword to dumbfound their classmates, parents and teachers.
Smile (Poppy Programs) (BBC Model B)
I doubt if you'll be seeing this program in any Top 10 nominated by educationalists!
Make Sam Smile (Garland) (BBC/Electron)
The Make Sam Smile programs could be usefully "cleaned up" and are somewhat limited - particularly at the price.
French Revision (Dean Associates) (BBC B/B+/Master 128)
No user will have any delusions that this program involves anything other than fairly tedious work.
Flight Path (Storm) (BBC Model B)
I thoroughly enjoyed this program. It offers decision making, a wide range of skills and concepts, is presented in a very stimulating manner, and the options offered mean that it can be used effectively with a wide ability range.
Doctor Who And The Warlord (BBCSoft/BBC Publications) (BBC Model B)
This is definitely not an adventure for beginners and would go even further to suggest that it would best only be tackled by the most experienced adventurers.
Music Maker (Fsoft) (BBC B/B+/Master 128)
For its price, Music Maker provides an attractive mix of good facilities and ease of use.
Castle Dracula (Duckworth) (BBC Model B)
I was not over enthralled by this adventure and, had I paid full price for it, I'd probably have felt robbed.
Computer Scrabble (Leisure Genius) (BBC Model B)
After playing with the game off and on for a number of weeks, my initial objections to the graphics have been mellowed somewhat by the quality of the game played.
Beeline (Robico) (BBC Model B)
The nice graphics coupled with a variety of screens make Beeline an enjoyable game sold at a reasonable price.
Locomotion (BBC Soft) (BBC/Electron)
The graphics in this game aren't particularly good and the sound effects could have been far better.
Pantry Antics (BBCSoft/BBC Publications) (BBC Model B)
Not a bad game, but it does become rather tiresome and pointless after a few plays.
Island Of Xaan (Robico) (BBC B/B+/Master 128)
Up to the point I have reached so far, this adventure has been both challenging and enjoyable. I get the feeling that the rest when I get round to completing it will be every bit as good.
Flint's Gold (Micrograf) (BBC Model B)
In summary, this is an easily solvable adventure... The messages are very descriptive, some even witty.
Cumana Disc Drive Interface (Cumana) (Acorn Electron)
Cumana have certainly scored a great success in designing a system which works and works well, including as an extra bonus the ability to run tape-based software with little, if any amendment.
Advanced User Guide (Acornsoft/Adder) (BBC/Electron)
This book... will make the programmer's art very much easier and increase the amount of good software available for the machine.
The Acorn Electron For Beginners (Prentice-Hall International) (Acorn Electron)
It is indeed true that the scope covered by this book is very extensive, with a vast amount of information included, but I cannot really see the book appealing to a very large section of Electron owners.
Electron Micro Guide (Longman) (Acorn Electron)
The chapters covering the BASIC commands and their uses are excellent, being alphabetically ordered and useful in their brevity, yet still remaining comprehensive, with a lot of examples given.
Step-By-Step Programming: Acorn Electron Book 1 (Dorling Kindersley) (Acorn Electron)
For the novice or young user, this book is an interesting and helpful idea, while even the more experienced among us will find some of the tips and ideas quite stimulating.
The Electron Gamesmaster (Granada) (Acorn Electron)
The range of programs chosen, their comparative complexity and yet simplicity by virtue of the explanations, will make this book an interesting alternative for Electron owners. I found it quite fascinating to read.
Basic ROM User Guide (Acornsoft/Adder) (BBC/Electron)
Offers a good mix of well presented reference material, clear explanation and 'hands on' practice.
The Advanced Basic ROM User Guide (Cambridge Microcomputer Centre) (BBC Model B)
The Cambridge Computing Centre edition takes what is useful in BASIC for the programmer and suggests how to get round the limitations of some of its routines.
