Never say Nevryon again [You what?]

Nevryon

The idea of Nevryon is to fly your fighter through eight levels shooting aliens and weapons situated on the ground, on rooftops and in the air. At the same time you can collect extra weapons such as "Rapid Fire Lasers" and Bonus Pods are also available at various points. At the end of each level you must destroy an Alien Fortress which gets progressively harder as you continue through the levels. Also to contend with are walls, which must be avoided, flame throwers and force fields.

I liked the number of options which you had to choose from, particularly those of speed, colour and high/low resolution which made the game a very user-friendly one. It can be fine-tuned to match your own likes and dislikes.

Nevryon is a sideways scrolling game which starts with a large spaceship thundering towards the right of the display. At the bottom of the screen is the current score, power remaining and ships remaining indicators.

Nevryon

Continuing on, I was bombarded by aliens which I promptly attempted to hit only to find that they must be hit twice before they die. They move around in many different formations and are sometimes very difficult to avoid. At this point the very bad sprite movement becomes obvious. When the aliens hit your ship, they momentarily cut part of you off, as when they hit any other objects.

Your spaceship, with its flame shooting from the back, makes only crashing sounds and emits rather annoying beeps when firing. It is very rusty in its movements and I found that the speed at which you move gave you no time to avoid anything, but that might be me... probably is!

I'm afraid that even after spending almost an hour on the game, I still couldn't find the fortress which I was to blow up to complete that particular level, so I ended up going joyriding and crashing into everything... much more exciting!

To put Nevryon into perspective, it looks like a rush job and, for £14.95, it's too dear.

Verdict

Should be cheaper, and tidied up would help!
