Linked reviews are available to view in full on this site.
C For Beginners (Melbourne House) (Spectrum 48K)
There are many comparisons made throughout the book to BASIC, so the BASIC programmer should experience no major difficulties.
Sinclair And The 'Sunrise' Technology (Penguin) (Spectrum 48K)
A fascinating and plausible account of a period of history which may be regarded in our future as the turning point of a new era.
Colossus Bridge 4 (CDS) (Spectrum 48K)
A reasonable introduction for the beginner who finds it impossible to learn from books alone but the more experienced player is likely to get extremely annoyed at lack of a real challenge.
Phantomas (Codemasters) (Spectrum 48K)
Full of original and inventive ideas, the eighty screens will keep you hunched over your keyboard for many a long hour.
Vampire (Codemasters) (Spectrum 48K)
A good, challenging game. Perseverance pays off and slowly, further areas of the castle are revealed.
Hercules (Alpha Omega) (Spectrum 48K)
The chosen keys are unplayable, with no redefine option, although you can use a joystick.
Ice Temple (Bubble Bus) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
A competent game, but it just seems a bit old hat these days.
Frost Byte (Mikro-Gen) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
There's an enjoyable game in here, but it's been spoiled by not being very well thought out.
Oblivion (Alpha Omega) (Spectrum 48K)
It's the sort of game that doesnt require amazing graphics to be effective - it's simply a question of whether or not you enjoy this type of simple target shooting.
Firelord (Hewson) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
The game features very attractive graphics, smooth animated figures and a complexity of gameplay that is pitched at just the right frustration level.
Thanatos (Durell) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
The quality of the animation does enhance your enjoyment of the game, because with just a little bit of imagination you can easily imagine yourself flying over the heads of the people below, prior to trampling them into the ground.
Rogue Trooper (Piranha) (Spectrum 48K)
A Monster Hit... The way to success and a longer life is to use the scenery as cover, only rushing into the open when you can get first shot.
Wargames (Cases) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
The game itself is a tricky balancing act between holding onto the town of Eylau while striing at the advancing enemy.
Bugsy (CRL/St. Brides) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Bugsy is no classic, but it is a polished piece of software which will provide plenty of entertainment.
The Archers (Mosaic) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Each of the four games will only last two or three hours before you've seen everything it has to offer, and the result of every decision. I think, for most people, this life-span is just too short.
Prehistoric Adventure (Crusader Computing) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Poor programming... You can buy many better adventures for the same price or much less.
Twice Shy (Mosaic) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Technically smoother than Valkyrie 17 and seems as good in other ways.
Infiltrator (US Gold) (Spectrum 48K)
A tough but undeniably addictive game... I'm sure we've not heard the last of the ridiculously overqualified "Jimbo Baby" McGibbets.
The Quill Adventure Writer (Gilsoft) (Sinclair QL)
Quite impressive... Really complex adventures can be easily within the grasp of any adventure programmer.
Avenger: Way Of The Tiger 2 (Gremlin) (Spectrum 48K/128K)
Avenger is excellent. I would recommend it to almost anyone unreservedly.
