A most competent sports sim, but why is Ocean ripping off its own ideas?

Not the most exciting game in the whole world. While it's well programmed, the initial idea seems to be way off beam. It's nice to look at and would make a great movie but a computer game? Whatever next!

Metaplex (Addictive Games)

Tedious arcade collecty thing with some outdated graphics and gameplay.

1943 (Go)

Slightly outdated but nonetheless worthwhile WWII blast.

Superhero (Codemasters)

Reasonable isometric 3-D romp let down by poor scrolling. Otherwise, look for something more original.

The Games: Winter Edition (Epyx/US Gold)

Competent, but unremarkable, selection of snow sports sims.

Soldier Of Fortune (Graftgold/Firebird)

Give it a go by all means, but don't expect anything as stunning as previous Graftgold efforts.

Cybernoid 2 (Hewson)

Excellent follow-up to a fine original shoot-'em-up.

Alien Syndrome (The Edge)

Exciting and stomach-churning; a fast-moving coin-op conversion. Great pukey fun.

Intensity (Firebird)

A fast-moving, cleverly programmed and complex game, with an original plot, fine touches and a polished appearance. But, Uridium it's not.

Leaderboard Par 3 (US Gold)

Jolly decent compilation, great guff for golf fans.

Corruption (Magnetic Scrolls)

An absorbing and realistic game... It's different from normal adventures as it depends more on the gathering and correlating of information than puzzle-solving.

Vindicator (Imagine)

What you get for your money is one incredibly tedious maze game, one pretty good shoot-'em-up and one average fall-down-the-holes type game.

Bobby Yazz (Destiny)

An interesting idea... It's actually very amusing to see Bobby shaking his head in mock sadness as you die, and then burst into fits of laughter.

Samurai Warrior (Firebird)

Samurai Warrior is a tribute to Beam Software's programming ability, but says little for their game design.

The Pepsi Challenge (US Gold)

Excellent rehash of Pac-Man. Plays great, looks great. I say get it.

Gunfighter (Atlantis)

Above average shoot-out search game. Nice graphics although the action slows a little between gunfights.

Space Jack (Powerhouse)

Pretty scabby combination of space shoot-'em-up and platforms-and-ladders.

Uridium (Rack-It)

Fantastic space shoot-out stands the test of time. Fab graphics too. What more do you want?

Karate Ace (Star Games)

A nicely-chosen selection of kung-fu and karate games at a decent price.

Imbos 1.1 (Companion)

Good value for money, a pity it's limited to Interface 1 owners.

Tas-Spell +3 (Tasman)

If your spelling isn't wot it shud be, Tas-spell will sort it out.

Skateboard Kidz (Silverbird)

Clumsy and tedious skateboarding action.

Norman (Powerhouse)

Peculiar cross between Breakout and platforms-and-ladders which doesn't quite come off.

Pulse Warrior (Mastertronic)

Lots of bouncing laser-type fun. A good larf, and great for the price.

Gold Silver Bronze (Epyx)

Disappointing sports collection. It'll last you a while but only 'cause you have to multi-load all 23 events.
