Robocop (Data East) (Nintendo (US Version))
Oh dear, oh dear, what a disappointment. Robocop slides about like a metallic Michael Jackson, and would more than likely make any crook laugh to death rather than quiver in his boots.
Solar Jetman (Tradewest) (Nintendo (US Version))
With a depth of gameplay second to none and amazing graphics and sound, Solar Jetman ranks as the greatest NES cartridge released this year!
Blades Of Steel (Konami) (Nintendo (US Version))
A fine ice hockey simulation... The simple nature of the game may prove to be its downfall, but the two-player mode will have you digging out the cart months from now!
World Wrestling (Tecmo) (Nintendo (US Version))
A brilliant and amazingly playable wrestling game that even surpasses some arcade efforts! Check it out.
Batman (Sunsoft) (Nintendo (US Version))
Sporting an extra chip which enhances the graphics, Batman is a visual treat. There are twenty levels to beat, but the difficulty level is very nicely balanced and the gameplay is addictive enough to keep you coming back time and time again.
World Cup Italia '90 (Sega) (Sega Master System (EU Version))
A very poor effort that's disappointing in the extreme - get World Cup Soccer instead.
Jungle Fighter (Sega) (Sega Master System (EU Version))
A worthy effort marred by lack of variety and poor animation.
John Madden Football (Electronic Arts) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
A truly superlative sports simulation that's both highly addictive and technically stunning. An absolute must for sports fans.
Super Monaco GP (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
A fast and utterly thrilling race game - one of the best you'll play on any home machine.
Arnold Palmer's Golf (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
I don't think this takes the genre that much further than the Nintendo golf game, but it's hugely enjoyable nonetheless.
Ghostbusters (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
A fairly enjoyable licence which should appeal to platform fanatics. Good intro sequence too!
Hellfire (Sega) (Sega Mega Drive (EU Version))
Simply the best shoot-'em-up available for the Megadrive.
Robocop 2 (Ocean) (Amstrad CPC464+/GX4000)
A graphical tour de force let down by an incredibly high frustration level.
Pang (Ocean) (Amstrad CPC464+/GX4000)
Requiring much joystick-jiggling and reflex-testing, this is easily the best GX4000 title yet seen, and is an absolute must-have if you've got such a machine.
Navy Seals (Ocean) (Amstrad CPC464+/GX4000)
A brilliant-looking game which has plenty going for it, but is marred by frustratingly hard gameplay.
Another great Gameboy platform game, with a real sense of humour - the main sprite is hilarious! Sort of Super Mario-Land with guns!
NFL Football (Konami) (Game Boy)
Oh dear. When you look at the screenshots, this looks great. But when the action gets hectic, you end up with a writhing mass of pixels which you can't make head nor tail of!
Paperboy (Mindscape International Inc) (Game Boy)
The original was buckets of fun, and the Master System version is excellent. But it really doesn't work at all on this format - it needs colourful graphics, and the Gameboy, bless its little heart, just can't deliver that.
