For me, this lacks the immediate playability to maintain interest. But if you're a fan of the cartoons or the film, you'll probably enjoy the game. Read Review
It's playable enough, and the variety of sub-games provide extra interest. Read Review
The graphics do slightly improve on some levels, but not enough to make you shout it from the roof tops! The tune doesn't resemble the cartoon series at all. Read Review
A very playable conversion that captures all the atmosphere of the movie but falls on being a little on the easy side. Read Review
A disappointing tie-in, presumably aimed at a younger audience. There's less here than meets the eye. Read Review
There are five sub-games in here somewhere, each based on events in the film, but none even remotely interesting. Read Review
Masters Of The Universe brings to life the deadly, eternal battle between good and evil, the prize being the key to time travel. You as He-Man must search for the chords which make up the key. Only you can save the Earth from domination as He-Man meets Skeletor in the battle for Eternia, the final chapter that will seal the fate of mankind forever.
Having made your escape from Castle Greyskull you have arrived in modern day America. You must use your skill and strength to discover the chords to activate the Cosmic Key and so return to Greyskull.
The object of the game is for you to collect eight chords. Some are to be found in the streets. Others you will only find when you have defeated members of Skeletor's forces.
You have two companions, Teela and Swildor, who will from time to time give you help and information. Your main enemies are Blade and Karg, who must be fought hand to hand. Skeletor's troopers will attack you both in the streets and when you use your flying disk.
Skeletor himself must be fought to the death.
In the streets:
You must fight the troopers, battling your way through the city to locations where, with skill and judgement, you will find cosmic chords. The joystick controls your direction: press Fire to shoot.
The scrapyard:
Here you must fight two of Skeletor's must evil minions hand to hand, in order to receive a chord.
Joystick controls are:
Left - Walk Back, Right - Walk Forward, Up - Punch, Down - Dodge, Fire & Right - Kick
You will push automatically if you and your opponent get too close.
Charlie's Shootout:
You are held up in Charlie's Electronic Store. Here you must hold off Skeletor's troopers who are protecting a key. The joystick controls the cross-hair. Press Fire to shoot your enemies.
Disk Battle:
Having made your way to the rooftops, you find a flying disk. Riding atop of your disk, engage the enemy in a mid-air lazer battle.
The Final Confrontation:
Having landed your disk and collected the eight chords, you face Skeletor in an awesome show of power and skill. Balanced precariously on the throne dias you must force Skeletor into the abyss.
Z - Left, X - Right, O - Up, K - Down, SPACE - Fire
H - Toggle Pause, Q - Quit, 0 - To start game
Compatible with Kempston/Cursor/Interface 2/+2 joystick.
