Linked reviews are available to view in full on this site.
Space Raiders (Psion) (Spectrum 16K)
Though the principle of this game is well established by now, this implementation is particularly good.
Mad Martha (Mikro-Gen) (Spectrum 48K)
The program understands a fair number of words and is very easy to communicate with.
Maze Panic (Silicon) (Spectrum 48K)
One particularly nice feature: you can examine the Basic program in order to make your own improvements, and each maze can be saved as a separate game.
Scramble (Mikro-Gen) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
What an inexperienced player would make of the plane ploughing through mountains without any apparent damage I can't imagine.
Time/Money (Poppy Programs) (Spectrum 16K)
Both programs have value... but for much less, you could buy a set of imitation coins and a clock face!
Garden Birds (Hilton Computer Services) (Spectrum 48K)
Disappointing in view of the amount of hard work that obviously went in to it.
IQ Test (Flowchart) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
£5.75 is a shade high for 40 minutes of intelligence test.
Chemistry (Alchemy) (Spectrum 48K)
A first-class presentation of these topics with a well-written accompanying text.
The BBC Music Processor (Quicksilva) (BBC Model A & B)
The screen displays the various parameters and settings clearly, the program is well error trapped, user-friendly and provides good user prompts.
Juggernaut/Auto Load, Buccaneer, Mirage/Pre-Loads (Novasoft) (Commodore Vic 20)
An average bunch of routines which would offer better value if they were all on the same cassette.
Character Generator (Gem) (Dragon 32)
An added feature is the facility to display your text vertically (that is, lying on its side), as well as horizontally.
Vu-Calc (Psion) (Spectrum 16K/48K)
There are so many possible ways of using this program that it may take some time to realise its full potential.
Championship Darts (Shadow) (Dragon 32)
An absorbing task trying to score that magic treble twenty!
Do Not Pass Go (Work Force) (Spectrum 48K)
Some of the displays are difficult to read because of an ill-chosen combination of paper and ink.
Yahtzi (Work Force) (Spectrum 48K)
I would have liked to have seen a longer delay for the print on screen.
A good simulation... would interest both the pro and the raw beginner.
Inkosi (Chalksoft) (BBC Model B)
War, harvest failures, the witchdoctor, hunters and raiders, rats, and different rates of population growth... a leader's life is not always an easy one!
Miner (Computasolve) (Newbrain)
Make sure to read the sparse but adequate instructions carefully.
Star Trader (Computasolve) (Newbrain)
An interesting and unpredictable, but slightly overpriced game of interplanetary commerce.
