Battlezone Vs. 3D Tank Duel (Quicksilva) (Spectrum 48K)

Realtime's 3D Tank Duel is actually just a bit better than the official Battlezone from Atari.

Volcano (Computer Magic) (Spectrum 48K)

I know that games are supposed to have a bit of mystery surrounding them and that the documentation shouldn't give too much away - but I felt that Volcano needed a bit more explanation for the player to make the most of the game.

Dark Star (Design Design) (Spectrum 48K)

A real visual treat. You'll think you are on the bridge of the USS Enterprise.

Combat Lynx (Durell) (Commodore 64)

Not a game that you can plug in and play right off the shelf. You need to take time to read the comprehensive instructions that come with it.

Flyer Fox (Tymac) (Commodore 64)

Don't buy this game for the promise of sound synthesis. But if you enjoy a straightforward shoot out you could do worse than Flyer Fox.

Fighter Pilot (Digital Integration) (Commodore 64)

A game for flying addicts or simulation freaks who like a game which they can really get their teeth into.

Henry's House (English)/Di's Baby (Bad Taste) (Commodore 64)

You'll love Henry's House.

Jinn Jenie (Micromega) (Commodore 64)

The graphics have been carefully done, and it's a good idea to use a joystick as the action is pretty fast.

Alien (Argus Press) (Commodore 64)

The programmer may have had good intentions but this game certainly doesn't do justice to the film. The Alien seems to behave more like Tinkerbell in Peter Pan than a monster that gets inside one's digestive system and fights its way out when it feels like it.

Eddie Kidd Jump Challenge (Martech) (Commodore 64)

The best version of the game by miles... Eddie and his machine are drawn and animated perfectly - and the improved graphics make the game much more playable.

It's simple, but quite addictive if you're a bike fan. The graphics are simple but effective and the bike sound effects pretty good.

PSI Warrior (Beyond) (Commodore 64)

An interesting game but just not exciting enough! The instrumentation is a bit confusing too.

Grand Prix (Software Invasion) (BBC Model B)

Unless you're a fan of road race games, save your money... To overtake another car, you have to drive with half the car on the grass!

Pole Position (Atarisoft) (BBC Model B)

Pole Position on the Atari is acclaimed as a true classic computer game. Sadly, their version for the BBC has about as much punch as Son of Rocky IV.

Maze Gold (Visions) (Commodore Vic 20)

Overall not a very exciting game. There's better about - even for the poor Vic.
