Leviathan (English) (Commodore 64/128)
Someone had to do something with the basic Zaxxon idea, and English Software have reworked it excellently to produce an exceptionally entertaining game.
Dandy (Electric Dreams) (Commodore 64)
The fact that Dandy has a two-player game option and bonus treasure levels doesn't make a jot of difference. Who needs it if you've got Gauntlet?
Howard The Duck (Activision) (Commodore 64/128)
This game could, and should have a lot better. But it's really is too tedious for words.

My first reaction to Storm was one of repulsion, but it's not that bad and if you treat it as a maze game you'll feel a lot happier.

Graphically, S.W.A.T. is adequate with nothing to shout about. The sound is also pretty basic with average touches. The real quality it has is that it's simple and fun to play, and it's very cheap.

The boys didn't do great here... I can understand that any program is going to comprise a random number system with various values having various repercussions, but to make it all money-based seems stupid.

What we have here is a goalkeeper simulation. I understand the Peter Shilton namecheck, but where Diego Maradona fits in I don't know!

Playing The Double should have been absorbing stuff but it didn't take me long to get bored with it all. It's like watching paint dry most of the time.

The sloppiness of this shoot-'em-up is an insult to both wallet and intelligence.

Few will be prepared to spend the time and effort to play the game enough to appreciate its tactical skills and will, no doubt, have been put off by the game's uninspiring graphics, price and dull presentation.

On many formats Fist is really in a different class compared to other beat-'em-ups. It could be on the C16 only if it weren't for the weedy opposition in this version.
Bounder/Planet Search (Gremlin) (Commodore 16/Plus 4)
This is an excellent varied package and I strongly recommend you to get down the shop and buy it if you fancy some enduring arcade action.
Jet Set Willy II (Tynesoft) (Commodore 16)
An unusual demake, the C16 version has to be loaded in four sections in order to cram all the screens into the 16K memory. It retains the irritating death-restart-death loop too. But, apart from that, I liked it a lot.
Pin Point (Anco) (Commodore 16)
A reasonably good attempt at a Marble Madness-style game for the C16. Fans of that game will no doubt lap it up but I couldn't help thinking that, with a little more care, Anco could have had another Screen Star on their hands.
Space 2 (Midas) (Commodore 16/Plus 4)
Two games for the price of one, with the first being a pretty standard invaders type thing and the second one (Pilot X) being an original and truly addictive game.
Fighting Warrior (Melbourne House) (Commodore 16)
Graphics are impressive - but this is of little consequence in a game that is basically unplayable.
Kayleth (US Gold) (Commodore 64/128)
Kayleth sports a multi-word parser, which includes a GET ALL command, whilst the text descriptions are not brief.
Silicon Dreams (Rainbird) (Commodore 64)
These games are a must for any serious adventure player.
Winter Wonderland (Incentive) (Commodore 64)
Should give hours of amusement when it is too cold to venture outside into the real thing!
Music Synthesiser (Tynesoft) (Commodore 16/Plus 4)
To be fair to this package, you must take several factors into account; the C16 is not particularly well endowed musically, and it's not got a lot of memory to play about with!
Heartland (Odin) (Commodore 64)
Heartland features some superb graphics such as the crumbling Gooches, the loping wizards and the plant and unicorn statues that litter the background that add to an almost impossible gameplay to create an excellent game.
