Breakdance Vs. Break Fever (Commodore 64)
If you want to breakdance on your C64, we advise you to check out Breakdance rather than Break Fever.
Gryphon (Quicksilva) (Commodore 64)
All the ingredients are here but they don't blend to make an enjoyable, playable game.
Cauldron (Palace) (Commodore 64/128)
Splendid graphics, interesting plot, and above all challenging and entertaining gameplay.
Slap Shot (Anirog) (Commodore 64)
Slap Shot is good but it could be better. Passing is difficult, sometimes the puck will pass right through a team mate.
Shadowfire (Beyond) (Commodore 64)
Shadowfire creates a total atmosphere that gamers can lose themselves in - the essence of a good adventure. The revolutionary icon gameplay technique is the icing on the cake.
Stellar 7 (US Gold) (Commodore 64/128)
This piece of slick coding gives the connoisseur a turn in the driving seat of a hover-destroyer.
Impossible Mission (Epyx) (Commodore 64)
Impossible Mission will have you hooked. I especially like the eerie, echoing footsteps of agent 4125 as he runs down the corridors. But best of all is the horrible, strangled yell he lets out when he falls through a hole in the floor!
Skramble (Anirog) (Commodore 16)
Whilst it can hardly lay claim to being the most original and innovative game of 1985, Skramble is a worthwhile addition to the C16/Plus 4 owners' games library.
3D Time Trek (Anirog) (Commodore 16/Plus 4)
Certainly worth looking at. The graphics, while not brilliant, are among the best I've seen on the C16.
Penetrator (Melbourne House) (Commodore 64)
It has taken Melbourne House an age to convert this Spectrum game - but it's worth the wait.
Bigtop Barney (Interceptor Micros) (Commodore 64)
I really enjoyed this fun package and consider it excellent, imaginative and addictive.
Pastfinder (Activision) (Commodore 64)
Some very impressive graphics: three dimensional spinning and rotating objects with accurate shadows.
One On One Vs. International Basketball (Commodore 64)
If you want a basketball game, go for the Commodore game International Basketball which has all the elements you need for a realistic simulation.
Hyper Circuit (Alligata) (Commodore 64)
The graphics and blasting are fun but the game lacks depth.
Gribley's Day Out (Hewson) (Commodore 64)
Gribleys are just about cute enough, and the game just about good enough, to catch on.
Beyond Basic On Your Commodore 64 (Sigma Technical Press) (Commodore 64)
Leave this one of the shelf.
Commodore 64 Game Construction Kit (Datamost) (Commodore 64)
This is yet another guide to Basic with some poorly-written games and some listings thrown in to pad it out. £14.50? Scandalous.
Turbocharge Your Commodore 64 (Longman) (Commodore 64)
An average book, with good tips. However, it's not a book for the faint hearted; the exercises must be worked at to gain full benefit from it.
Commodore 16 Games Book (Melbourne House) (Commodore 16)
There are some thoughtful features like a screenshot for each program, listings that are broken down into clearly defined sections and programming suggestions that should help you enhance and adapt what you've already typed in.
The Commodore 16 Games Book (Collins) (Commodore 16)
Another book of type-in listings. Most are encouragingly short and none are too long to be off-putting.
100 Programs For The Commodore 16 (Prentice Hall) (Commodore 16)
This book's got a great deal to offer.
The Commodore C16/Plus 4 Companion (Sunshine) (Commodore 16/Plus 4)
A ground grounding, followed by a chapter on machine-code that introduces the built-in Tedmon monitor, followed by a section on using the 1541 and 1542 (will it ever appear?) disk drives, disk and file-handling commands.
The Working Commodore 16 (Sunshine) (Commodore 16)
These mostly business-type programs will probably give you a good grounding in business computing if you can muster up the enthusiasm to key them in.
Easy Programming: Commodore 16 (Shiva) (Commodore 16)
The book emphasises structured programming methods and debugging techniques which should provide a firm foundation for more advanced programming.
