Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge (Gremlin)
The basic message is that if you're at all serious about a driving sim, this is the one.
The most fun footie sim you'll find! There are a few annoying quirks. Even so, Gazza II has got most things just about right.
Trevor Brooking's World Cup Glory (Challenge)
No graphics or sound... Text-based football has never been particularly exciting, and you'd be better off shelling out three quid on a budget sim and spending the rest on beer and chips.
You'll get fed up with the lack of speed. And the lack of variety. It is just too slow!
Graphically it's fine to look at, but it's too slow and jerky to make a really good shoot-'em-up. You can't say it's not topical, though!
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (Image Works)
A pleasant surprise - the graphics are great and the gameplay much deeper than I was expecting. Not a game to absorb the more mature gamesplayer for long, but a highly decent outing for the young 'uns.
Subbuteo is very much a game for two players. If you don't have any chums, then don't bother; you'll lose the player vs. computer game every time.
A Beginner's Guide To Adventures (Atlas Adventure)
A very well written book which is an invaluable aid to anyone who has just started playing adventure games or is interested in them.
Scull PD Disc #15 (Adventures #1)
Can You Cheat Death? is a bit risque, Blue Raider is all right, with a good combat sequence, and Raider would be OK game if it wasn't so slow!
A historic game that is a worthy addition to the adventurer's collection. An added bonus is that all the room descriptions and messages are held in ASCII files.
Scull PD Disc #19 (Adventures #2)
Five original adventures from Simon Avery - he certainly can write funny well-structured adventures if he puts his mind to it.
AMS 3 (Shades/Masters Of Mid-World)
Games with very small parsers and poor graphics. Nothing to write home about.
