Bobsleigh (Digital Integration)
A combination of strategy and fast reactions that mould together well.
Repetitive after a while. It doesn't fare well in comparison with Activision's Rampage.
Super Hang-On (Electric Dreams)
Pathetic lack of colour - even has attribute clash! - plus hideous music and horrid sound effects. Yet still surprisingly playable and addictive!
There are three games here, but they are very similar whoever you are controlling, and the enemy fail to provide many surprises.
Board games are usually better as board games than computer games, and this is no exception.
Basil The Great Mouse Detective (Gremlin)
A good game of the film. Amusing features add to the general enjoyment.
A hideous game... Very frustrating and there's simply no incentive to play. All you do is bounce around bumping into things with no sense of achievement.
A playable arcade conversion, but it's slow... Five tracks with five stages may keep you occupied for a long time.
Although it's the best basketball game around, it doesn't get close to the real thing.
Through The Trap Door (Piranha)
The gameplay lets down the superb graphics and, unfortunately, it lacks that certain something to take it from an average game to a brilliant one.
Not one of the better licences. Frustration over badly timed jumps and hazards will deter you from playing.
Boulder Dash Construction Kit (Databyte)
It's worth the asking price, but looks long in the tooth these days.
The game itself is not too bad, but the format is very old. Starstrike from Realtime was virtually the same game, more fun to play and is over two and a half years old - 'nuff said.
Gary Lineker's Superstar Soccer (Gremlin)
A good try at mixing the two types of football game. Works better as a strategy game than an arcade action game.
Guild Of Thieves (Magnetic Scrolls/Rainbird)
Great game, great graphics, what more can you want?
A shameless Colossal Cave derivative, right down to the magic words, the chasms, the tunnels, and the syntax... Has some atmosphere!
For the price, it really isn't bad value, though I don't think it scores all that highly in the lasting interest stakes.
