3D Tank Zone (Dynabyte) (Acorn Electron)
Meticulous attention to detail such as the rotating rotors of the helicopters and planes makes this game a joy to watch as well as play.
O Level Maths Revision Parts 1 & 2 (Ampalsoft) (Acorn Electron)
The best feature of the programs is the step forward/backward feature.
Frenzy (Micro Power) (Acorn Electron)
If you liked the arcade game Qix or you're just fed up with traditional shoot-'em-up games, buy Frenzy. You won't be disappointed.
Blagger (Alligata) (Acorn Electron)
Blagger proved a game which lasted the course, immediately attractive and entertaining, a difficult enough challenge to hold interest and fun to watch.
Guardian (Alligata) (Acorn Electron)
Will provide you with many happy hours polishing off the alien landers.
Castle Assault (MRM) (Acorn Electron)
Castle Assault doesn't have a lot wrong with it, but it's not exciting enough to make an impact on the software charts.
Test Match (CRL) (Acorn Electron)
Primarily for the enthusiast... Might stimulate interest in the finer points of cricket.
Not very much above the standard of games that can be copied from magazines these days.
Pengi (Visions) (Acorn Electron)
This game is very enjoyable... Probably the closest version of Pengo that you're likely to get on any micro.
Heathrow (Hewson) (BBC/Electron)
A really tough test of your reflexes, skills, memory and common sense... Takes some beating!
Acorn Electron Plus 1 (Acorn Computers) (Acorn Electron)
The documentation is a straight addition to the Electron manual, covering all the new relevant commands.
Plunder (Cases) (Acorn Electron)
Generally, the game is monotonous and I never actually bothered to finish a game since I found it so unchallenging and totally boring.
Learn About Words (Goldstar) (BBC Model B)
The program is well packaged, with a good instruction book which even has a section for the child to colour and to write the words in.
Rubble Trouble (Micro Power) (Acorn Electron)
A reasonably good game involving a fair amount of dexterity and strategy in order to succeed.
Savage Pond (Starcade) (BBC/Electron)
As one screen of amoeba is devoured, more and more problems appear to haunt you, including ferocious dragonfly nymphs, jellyfish and even radioactive waste from a dumper truck!
Replica II (Clares)
Bel Graph (Bel Tech)
Stockmarket (Argus Press) (BBC Model B)
A compulsive and interesting game, totally different from zapping invaders.
Music Editor (System) (BBC B/B+/Master 128)
Although there's only six tempos, The Music Editor is the nearest thing to a musical instrument you can hope to achieve on the BBC.
Brainstorm (Virgin) (BBC Model B)
This game is certainly different... Those wishing to engage their brains may get quite a lot of fun out of this one.
Surprisingly, this turns out to be a very addictive game, probably because you're trying to beat your opponent and you end up having 'just one more go', as with all good games.
Sea Adventure (Virgin) (BBC Model B)
I think that this will appeal to all but the most hardened adventure nuts and the arcade only freaks.
Proteanse (DK Tronics) (BBC Model B)
I do not like the position of the keys for the game; C moves left, B moves right and SHIFT fires.
Carousel (Acornsoft) (BBC Model B)
There is nothing stunningly original in this game but so much is going on, there are so many options and combinations, that it remains addictive and enjoyable, as far as I know, forever. Good colour, excellent sound, great fun.
