A new adventure from Robico is now something I look forward to eagerly.
This final part of the Rick Hanson Trilogy can only enhance an already
high reputation with discerning adventurers.
The Robico parser, which is clearly under continuous development (and
apparently owes one refinement to yours truly!), can deal with multiple
input even better than before.
The game includes the Oops option which allows you to undo your last
move - as long as you are still alive, that is.
There is a competition entry form supplied with each game for those who
manage to complete the adventure. The closing date is April 30, 1987 and the
prize is £100. It won't be a pushover to complete Myorem, I can promise you!
The start is a beauty. There you are bound and gagged, tied to an execution
post, unable to do or say anything. If you hang around long enough, up rolls
the firing squad to shoot you. It took a bit of thought to get myself out of that
mess.
The first real problem is quite a complicated chain involving repeated
manipulation of objects before you can leap off into the culvert and find your
way into the jungle.
The descriptions are very full and detailed and the jungle scenes have an
excellent touch. From time to time birds and animals cross your path - and
vanish in fright.
Myorem has my kind of humour, though I thought the fact that I have the
athletic agility of a large gnu (wildebeest to you) was a closesecretknownonly to
my nearest and dearest!
Frustration at the puzzles has once again been matched with hearty guffaws
at the humour. I particularly like the way that mistakes in play cause reality
to intrude in a devastatingly painful manner.
In view of the need to keep mum about the plot, the only other thing I'll
say is Buy It!
