A multi-screened arcade game. As Jack, you must climb the beanstalk and then explore the giant's castle, collect the appropriate object, avoid numerous meanies and work out the correct route - all very difficult to achieve.

Graphics are excellent, and the meanies move smoothly, but there is the occasional colour clash. The action is accompanied by An English Country Garden although you have the option of switching off the music.

The control keys are fairly well selected, and response is immediate, or you can use a joystick with a cursor or Kempston-type interface.

Jack and The Beanstalk

On several occasions, the program crashed on loading which is annoying, to say the least. Jack has survived some collisions with meanies which is more welcome, but so infrequent it appears to be a bug.

Your time is given should you complete the game, but otherwise no score is given.

Frustrating but challenging, if you want a difficult action game this can certainly be recommended.
