I thought I was mistaken about this title - surely it should be Cute To Kill? No, it's Cute the planet, if not Cute the game.
Imagine, if you can, a melange of Plan B and Codename: Droid and you start to get the feel of this game by Jason Chown, who's done something interesting in the past that for the life of me I can't recall. Sorry about that, Jason.
As ever, the plot involves exploring a series of catacombs, killing monsters, avoiding danger, collecting weapons, etc, etc. The twist, I suppose, is that this is a sort of sequel to Mission Icarus, although the games are radically different in style and playability.
This one really doesn't offer you anything drastically new - the graphics are quite large and interesting, the routes through some screens needs a bit of planning, the ability to select up to a dozen weapons is quite a nice touch (though you have to find them first) and the game is of a good size with about 130 screens of action.
Lurking deep within the game there are "enormous deadly mega-monsters" who sound quite cute but I didn't have the time to delve that far.
A good solid arcade adventure with the emphasis on action, let down by a dumb title and a horrendously overpriced disc release.
Still, with its first two releases, PSH is a software company worth welcoming to the Beeb games scene. It will be interesting to see what they do next - at present I don't think they've really created an industry.
