Android Attack is unlike any other game I have come across. The idea is to defend yourself from little androids in a "maze". which you run around quickly. You have a gun and mines which you can drop and explode later. As the game progresses, the androids require more than one hit to be destroyed; some fire at you and some just split in two when hit. After ten screens, the outline of the maze disappears.
Your energy level is shown by a red bar at the bottom of the screen. As you tire, you cannot run as quickly, and at a certain level you lose your ability to drop mines. The androids (being kindhearted!) do drop fruit, dots and other objects so you can gain energy.
One android is particularly nasty - he is a smiley face and appears at random. He can move anywhere and cannot be killed.
The controls are easy to use, Z X ? . and Return, the "standard" for games of this type. There are no alternatives for left-handed people or an option to use joysticks.
The graphics are quite good. the man really runs, the maze is very clear, and the androids are lifelike.
The sounds are good, but there are none that can be classed as "different".
The program itself is in three parts; a rather unimaginative "title", an instruction page, and the object code itself. There are twenty skill levels; you may start at anyone and even ask for a demonstration of each if you wish.
There is also a hi-score table: different "classes" novice, expert, etc are given in different colours.
I would have liked to see a joystick option. or at least the chance to change keys. but apart from this it is a good. well thought-out game. Well done Computer Concepts'
