The New Zealand Story
Wally Walrus has captured his tea - 20 of Tiki Kiwi's friends from the New Zealand zoo, and if Tiki doesn't rescue them all by tea-time they'll be stuffed, served and swallowed at Wally's table.
Tiki has to search Wally's domain which is just how you would expect it to be - *fat* with danger! Armed only with a bow and arrow, Tiki can accumulate more weapons along the way. Beware of the malicious rabbits, boomerang throwers, deadly frogs, blood-sucking bats and many, many more villainous creatures.
The Game
New Zealand is a peaceful place to live - if you're a Kiwi, particularly in the Auckland Zoo - Tiki is as happy as can be...
Trouble turns up in the guise of a psychotic walrus who has on enormous appetite for fresh Kiwi and kidnaps Tiki and his relatives to stock the larder! The walrus hides his captives around the island in 20 hazardous locations but our hero escapes and sets about rescuing his buddies.
Gameplay
You control Tiki the Kiwi in his search for the release of his kidnapped friends. Initially, you are armed with just a bow and arrow, but occasionally when you kill an enemy, they may drop an item which you con retrieve and use yourself. There are many different types of item which you must discover yourself, but they vary from extra weapons to temporary invulnerability pills.
Kiwis cannot fly and you are no exception, however, you get around this by knocking/shooting creatures off their balloons, which you can then commandeer and take to the skies! Surprisingly, Kiwis cannot breathe under water either, so you must be careful if you go swimming. Your oxygen level is shown on screen, so make sure you don't drown!
Shooting water from your mouth replenishes oxygen and can be used to pot your adversaries.
In the earlier levels, you will be shown arrows on the background which indicate the direction you must go to release the captive Kiwi on that level, but beware, on certain stages, releasing your friend alerts the Big Guardian Creature of that level, and you must first find a way of defeating it before progressing to the next level.
Because the various lairs of the walrus are so well guarded, we cannot brief you further. Your techniques will develop as you play the game and each new level presents new, frantic and more original challenges!
Note: Make sure you do not waste time sightseeing as you have a limited period to complete each level.
Status And Scoring
On the bottom of the screen is the payers remaining lives, the score and an O2 Oxygen meter, which decreases while the player is in the water.
The game finishes when the player's lives are exhausted or when he clears all the screens and reaches the end.
For each special item which is collected you will get 1,000 points. Fruits range between 300 and 8,000 points. For each enemy which is killed the score ranges between 100 and 500 points, and the big boss characters are worth 10,000, 20,000, 30,000, 40,000 and 50,000 points.
Hints And Tips
- When in water, oxygen can be replenished by raising Tiki's head above the water - then spit by pressing fire if you want to gain oxygen quickly.
- Steal balloons by jumping on them while the baddie is still on, pushing him off.
- After a lot of practice, playing skills can be improved considerably.
- Use the duck balloon when you need speed.

Press SYMBOL SHIFT and CAPS SHIFT to quit.
The game is controlled by either Sinclair joystick, Kempston joystick or keyboard.

Nueva Zelanda es un pacífico lugar donde vivir -especialmente si eres un Kiwi en el Zoo Auckland-. Tiki es un Kiwi muy feliz...
El problema apareció en forma de una morsa psicótica cuya pasión era comer kiwis frescos. La morsa secuestró a Tiki y a sus familiares con el fin de abastecer su despensa.
La morsa escondió a sus víctimas en veinte peligrosos lugares alrededor de la isla, pero nuestro héroe consiguió escapar y decidió rescatar a sus compañeros.
Mira cómo vuelan las plumas mientras Tiki ejecuta su plan. En la despensa también hay compañeros muy extraños y sedientos de sangre.
Controles
Opciones usuales del joystick para ARRIBA, ABAJO, IZQUIERDA, DERECHA y DISPARO.
Controles del teclado redefinibles, los controles por defecto son:
Arriba: I, Izquierda J, Disparo: Space, Abajo: K, Derecha: L.
Para interrumpir la partida pulsa SHIFT y CAPS SHIFT.
El juego se controla vía joystick Sinclair, Kempston o teclado.
El Juego
Controlas a Kiti el Kiwi y tu misión consiste en liberar a tus compañeros secuestrados. En un principio vas armado solamente con un arco y una flecha, pero a veces cuando destruyes a un enemigo éste dejará caer un objeto que puedes recoger y utilizar. Hay diferentes tipos de objetos que deberás descubrir por tu cuenta. Estos pueden ser desde armas extra a pildoras de invulnerabilidad temporal.
Los kiwis no pueden volar y tú no eres una excepción. Sin embargo, puedes superar este inconveniente golpeando/tirando a las criaturas de sus globos. ¡Toma tú el control y vuela a los cielos! Aunque parezca mentira los kiwis no pueden respirar debajo del agua... Ten cuidado cuando estés nadando. En pantalla aparecerá tu nivel de oxígeno, por tanto, ¡fíjate en el indicador y no te ahogues!
Cada vez que tires agua por la boca recuperarás parte de tu oxígeno. También puedes utilizar esta táctica para disparar contra tus adversarios.
En los primeros niveles aparecerán una flechas en la parte posterior de la pantalla, que indican la dirección que debes tomar para liberar a uno de los kiwis capturados en ese nivel. Pero ten cuidado porque en algunas etapas del juego la liberación de uno de tus colegas alertará a una gigantesca criatura y deberás destruirla antes de pasar al nivel siguiente.
Sugerencia: Puedes dejarte comer por la ballena y destruirla desde dentro.
Como las otras guaridas de la morsa están muy bien escondidas y fuertemente protegidas, nosotros no podemos ayudarte más. Aprenderás nuevas tácticas a medida que avances en el juego. Cada nuevo nivel te enfrentará a nuevos, emocionantes y originales desafíos.
Nota: No te dediques a hacer turismo por la zona porque tienes un tiempo límite para completar el nivel.
En la parte inferior de la pantalla se encuentran los siguientes indicadores: número de vidas restantes, puntuación de cada uno de los jugadores y su nivel de oxígeno O2, que disminuye cuando el jugador está dentro del agua.
La partida termina cuando agotas todas tus vidas o cuando despejas todas las pantallas y consigues llegar al final.
Por cada objeto especial recogido ganarás 1.000 puntos Las frutas valen de 300 a 8.000 puntos. Por cada enemigo destruido ganarás de 100 a 500 puntos, y si destruyes a sus jefes ganarás 10.000, 20.000, 30.000, 40.000 y 50.000 puntos.
Sugerencias
- Cuando estés dentro del agua puedes recuperar oxígeno sacando la cabeza del Kiwi por encima del agua; después pulsa el botón disparo para tirar agua por la boca si quieres recuperar oxígeno rápidamente.
- Roba los globos saltando sobre ellos cuando el malo esté encima, después empújalo y toma tú el control.
- Después de mucha práctica tus habilidades de juego aumentarán considerablemente.
- Utiliza el globo-pato cuando necesites velocidad.
Instrucciones De Carga
- Introduce la cinta en tu aparato de cas-sette. Comprueba que la cinta está totalmente rebobinada.
- Comprueba que la conexión MIC está desconectada y que los controles de tono y volumen están ajustados a sus niveles apropiados.
- Si tu ordenador es un Spectrum 48K o Spectrum +, entonces carga el juego de la siguiente manera: teclea LOAD"" (ENTER). (Fíjate que no hay espacio entre las dos comillas.) La " se obtiene pulsando simultáneamente las teclas SYMBOL SHIFT y P.
- Pulsa PLAY en el cassette. El juego se cargará automáticamente. Si tienes problemas, intenta ajustar los controles de tono y volumen y consulta el capítulo 6 de tu manual Spectrum.
- Si tu ordenador es un Spectrum 128K, sigue las instrucciones de pantalla o consulta el manual correspondiente.
Nota: 48K Juego multicarga; sigue en todo momento las instrucciones de pantalla.
128K: El juego cargará cuatro niveles al mismo tiempo; sigue en todo momento las instrucciones de pantalla.
Disco Spectrum +3: Instala el sistema y enciende el ordenador. Inserta el disco y pulsa ENTER para seleccionar la opción 'LOADER' El programa se cargará automáticamente.
