Bully's Sporting Darts (Alternative)

We haven't seen one of these for ages, and it's really well done with lots of sub-games. Unfortunately, only one of them's really any good and after a while the whole thing gets very boring indeed.

Classic Arcadia (Alternative)

Grebit is crap, Missile/Aftermath starts well but collapses in ruins, and Er*Bert is a good conversion of an odd game that has little lasting appeal.

Corporal Stone (Zenobi)

I'll leave most of the game's surprises for you to find out... but it's pretty unusual, uses objects in a very imaginative way and even has its fair share of aliens!

Deep Probe (Compass)

A quality PAWed text only game (though with loads of special effects and playability enhancers) from a guy who's been around for fifteen games and hundreds of years.

The Golden Locket (Zenobi)

A hostile, challenging adventure... Even with the help-sheet I doubt if you'll solve it in much under six weeks.

Kids Pack 2 (Alternative)

A jumble of a collection really and one you should really think about before buying.

Mindtrap (Virgin/Mastertronic)

'Can you escape the mindtrap?' asks the blurb. The answer is, regrettably, who cares? Not me, that's for sure.

Nanodemo (Jacek Michalak/The Catman)

Part of this demo's appeal is that by looking closely, you can see how they've managed to do each part. It's sort of like letting you in on the secret or something.

Nigel Mansell's World Championship (Gremlin Graphics)

Fun, lots of tracks plus oodles of drivers. There's very little wrong with this, but nothing that makes you think this is something to be treasured forever.

Pit-Fighter (The Hit Squad)

Make yourself very happy... leave Pit-Fighter on the shelf. I've scarcely recovered from the shock.

Popeye: The Collection (Alternative)

Graphically appealling throughout, although the third Popeye plays very unsatisfyingly. It detracts from an otherwise Megagame-ish compilation.

The Postman Pat Hit Collection (Alternative)

I'd recommend you give the compilation a miss and pick up the original, and best, Postman Pat for the bargainous sum of £3.99.

Smash TV (The Hit Squad)

I would give the Spectrum version of Smash TV a higher mark than the NES version, and it costs 10% of the NES price.

Street Fighter II (US Gold)

This is certainly one of the best two-player games on the good ol' Speccy. But you'll spend twenty minutes of loading for five minutes of play. The unforgivably poor loader has basically ruined a Megagame.

Unlimited Spirits (The Mad Guys)

No particularly special effects but some fun, fun scrollies.
