Cauldron Double Pack (Hi-Tec)

Cauldron equals flickery sprites and feeble sound... it's all incredibly hard (but spookily addictive). Cauldron II is much newer, sparkles technically, and is very sarcastic.

Double Dragon (Mastertronic)

Its main problem is that it just gets too boring too soon, even when playing with a friend. Oh, and the graphics are a bit shoddy and it's multiload.

Edd The Duck (Impulze)

A neat and colourful Rainbow Islands clone with a cutsie BBC puppet. Fun, but not all that original.

F-16 Combat Pilot (Digital Integration)

Perhaps the ultimate Speccy flight sim.

Gazza II (Empire)

At last, a really fast soccer sim for the Speccy. Brilliant as a two-player, a let-down if you're on your own.

Gemini Wing (Mastertronic)

A bit on the lousy side really. The weapons system is pretty rubbish for a start - you spend ages collecting weapons, but can't choose in which order to use them!

Impossaball (Players)

It's brilliant - the graphics look fab, it's easy to get into, it ain't too hard, it's compulsively addictive and pretty hard to fault.

Kwik Snax (Codemasters)

A completely different turnip than the other Dizzy games, but still just as good - if not more so 'cos it's just so spookily addictive. It's really nicely presented too - with colourful graphics and everything.

The Last Vampire (Atlantis)

It's all pretty good stuff - it may be very simple, and even a bit 'old-fashioned', but it's still very playable.

NARC (Ocean)

Violent, repetitive and morally dubious shoot-'em-up based on the popular arcade game.

Navy SEALS (Ocean)

Half unspectacular runaround, half snazzy multilevel shoot-'em-up. Rather excellent really.

Pang (Ocean)

A trouser-endangeringly addictive puzzley/shooty/cutesy game with lots of bubbles in.

Pick 'n' Pile (Ubisoft)

Colourful variation on the puzzle game theme - addictive, but not as good as Puzznic.

Platinum (US Gold)

Four of the best games US Gold have done (plus one freebie) - you can't go far wrong, can you?

A Question of Sport (Encore)

It's nicely presented, although this does slow play down a bit 'cos you have to wait for hours whilst David wibbles away endlessly between rounds.

S.T.U.N. Runner (Tengen)

Ho hum. Tedious, repetitive and not very impressive conversion of an impossible-to-convert coin-op. Not recommended.

Silkworm (Mastertronic)

Blimmin' addictive... Everything is beautifully clear and moves around pretty convincingly.

Tilt (Codemasters)

There are loads of mazes, it's all really good fun and utterly addictive - so you should certainly consider adding this little sausage to your collection.

Tracksuit Manager (Hi-Tec)

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you're even vaguely a fan then do rush out and buy this.

Trevor Brooking's World Cup Glory (Challenge)

Lots of lists of numbers, very little Trevor and certainly no Glory. Oh well.

Xenon (Mastertronic)

Graphic-wise things are excellent - detailed and, if a little monochrome, still pretty spanky.

Yogi Bear & Friends: The Greed Monster (Hi-Tec)

Full marks to Hi-Tec for signing up some original licences, but minus several million for just pasting the characters onto soulless and repetitive games like this one.
