Not only an achievement in video game storytelling, but it's the best this franchise has ever felt, looked, and played.

There's a lot to love here but it's going to take me a while to work my way to the story's finale... As tired as I've already become of the constant beatdowns, the story and general self-confidence of the game makes me want to power through.

This is a game from the '80s, for the '80s and should be enjoyed as such... It's got something for everyone, from karaoke mini-games and street brawling to collection rackets and gambling rings. Sit tight and enjoy the ride!

Whilst it may not have the best visuals, or the biggest game world, its outstanding gameplay and amount of content make it a must-buy prequel for fans of the series. And, even if you're unfamiliar with Yakuza, it's definitely one to check out.
