The program will ask "What now?" whenever it requires instructions on what to do next.
Just enter a short phrase in English, explaining what you want to do and press RETURN. The program will attempt to follow your instructions and tell you of any result that may occur. The program has an extensive vocabulary of words and will scan your command, selecting the words it recognises and "guessing" what you mean from these. Normally, two of three words are sufficient but occasionally more may be necessary.
If it does not understand what you want it to do, it will make some form of comment and ask for more instructions, try again using different words and you may have more luck.
Words can usually be abbreviated (North becomes N, Northeast becomes NE and so on) and, to help you get started, here are some possible instructions:
EXAMINE EVERYTHING
INVENTORY
PUT IT ALL IN THE BOOT
DRIVE THE CAR NORTH
OPEN THE STABLE DOOR
GET THE EGG AND THE PULLET
KISS THE BABY
WEAR WADERS
ATTACH THE BATTERY TO THE ENGINE
SCORE
PUSH THE ROCK SOUTH
SPRAY FLOWERS
