Strange things are afoot at the mansion of Lord Snodger. Objects seem to vanish into thin air. All put the blame on the Snodgits, those cute creatures who always seem to be up to something.
The world's most famous detectives are there to solve the mystery, but you think that you can do better.
See if you can track down the suspects whilst attending to the needs of the gentry.
So it's eyes peeled, nose to the ground, ears to the wall and leave no stone unturned in solving the crime of the century.
A Snodgit will tell you that someone wants an object. You, as butler, must find the object and deliver it to them.
To help you, there is a plan of the floor at the bottom centre of the screen. On the plan, walls are shown as white lines, objects as a white dot in the middle of the room, staircases as a white dot against a wall, your location as a magenta cursor, and the location of the person/object you have to reach as a green cursor. If there is no green cursor, you have to go up/down stairs. The object you require may be carried by another person.
When you have found the object, walk into it to swap it with the object you are carrying.
When you have the required object, find the person who wants it, walk up to him/her and deliver it.
The clue table is where clues are given, suspects eliminated and the guilty identified.
Two ways of obtaining a clue are successfully delivering an object or by snodging a Snodger. (If you turn to face a snodgit who is one step away, you have snodged it.)
The clue table comprises of two 3 x 4 blocks. The right hand block contains various objects, the left various suspects. Each row of suspects relate to the corresponding row of objects. Using skill and logic, discover the guilty party. You are given three attempts to solve the mystery. Should you fail, then you are given the answer and a new problem is set.
When you have decided who the guilty part is, move the cursor to your suspect and press fire. If you are correct, the guilty party will be transferred to the guilty box and you will be returned to the main game.
Once you have a guilty party, you must contact a detective.
When all three guilty people have been found, you advance to a harder game. You lose a life on the snodgeometer (Top meter) when you bump into a snodgit. You lose a life on the bodgeometer (Bottom meter) when you bump into a wall, try to walk off a wall, walk into a piece of furniture, walk into a person who has requested an object that you are not carrying or walk into a detective when there is nobody in the guilty box.
To return to the game from the clue table, move the flashing cursor until it is over the white arrow on the angle of view indicator and press Fire.
