This game was inspired by another one - that being The Crystal Cavern by Harry Capeling - and as such owes much to that game and to the experiences reaped whilst playing countless others.
For a number of weeks now your nightly slumbers have been disturbed by what can only be called 'nightmares'. At first you had put them down to over-indulgence in your favourite late-night snacks or perhaps even stress at work, but lately there have just been too many of them for them to be caused by such simple and mundane matters. There just has to be more to the 'nightmares' and there just has to be some deep-founded reason for their existence.
Finally the reasoning behind the disturbed nights is revealed and you are almost astonished to find that they had such strong emotions behind their appearances. It seems that the mighty Merlin needs, nay wants, your help and that only you can perform the task he demands of you, because last night he came to you in your strongest 'nightmare' yet and informed you that he was imprisoned in a deep, dark cavern. Held there, against his will, by the evil witch Nimue and desperate for release.
Your task is to locate all of Merlin's scattered artefacts and then to return them to him in the dark cavern in order to set him free. Seemingly Nimue has scattered the artefacts to the furthest corners of the land and that it will take great skill and ingenuity to recover them. Only when, and if, they are all returned to Merlin can Nimue's power be broken and Merlin set free. Then, and only then, will you be transported back to where you came from and perhaps with a bit of luck the dreaded 'nightmares' will cease to be .....
