A very safe game. It brings back the classic Mario Party board game form, marrying it with some of the better ideas from Mario Party: Star Rush, but it's light on the number of boards to play, lacks depth in other game modes, and misses opportunities for solo handheld and online multiplayer. Yes, it's Mario Party, but it's not particularly super.

It's just shy of being the full package but it's also exactly the shot in the arm this series needed and couldn't have come at a better time. What's more fitting for a console with built-in local multiplayer than the party game?

The minigames of Super Mario Party are great, taking advantage of the Switch hardware in unique and creative ways.

When it comes to multiplayer fun, you can't do much better than Super Mario Party. The variety of modes and mini-games is so phenomenal that you'll gladly boot it up whenever you have friends or family over.
